Scar Tissue or Lump?

Options

I had SNB which removed 4 nodes on 11/23/11.  A week ago I found a pea-sized lump under the scar in my armpit.  It isn't attached to the scar and isn't moveable.  I had US today and there are two small lumps that show up.  Radiologist said most recurrences happen 2 - 5 years after diagnosis.  (I'm at 7 mos.) and that it is probably scar tissue.  I see MO on Wednesday to discuss.

Has anyone had a recurrence or new primary that soon?   Does scar tissue often feel like a lump?  Radiologist said MO may have him do biopsy but that could cause more scar tissue.

Any experiences, advice or questions to ask Doc would be appreciated.

I had a lumpectomy for IDC, Triple Negative, 2.5 cm tumor, then chemo and rads.  3 months  after finishing treatment I felt a hard lump close to the original tumor.  I too felt it was difficult to distinguish between tumor or scar tissue, but decided not to take chances.  Good thing, it turned out to be a local recurence.

I had an ultra sound and then biopsy, which did, in fact, create more scar tissue.

I've learned there are no dependable timetables regarding cancer.  Go with your gut!

    Good luck
