We got the biopsy report today and are a bit confused - she is almost 89 years old and a breast cancer survivor of about 40 years - it talks about size and that it is invasive ductal carcinoma stage 3, then it says that is has a nottingham grade of 3, then it says estrogen positive < 90% strong immunoreactivity for that and the same for progesterone - would that mean it is estrogen/progesterone receptive?  The surgeon is sending her for scans to see if it is anywhere else and then treatment - or non-treatment will be decided........thanks

So sorry to hear about your MIL.  Cancer sucks at any age!  I will be sure to pray for her and your family.

    Take care,

I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL and I hope you get some answers soon.  Being a 40 year survivor is amazing.

Well, considering there weren't hormone inhibitors when your MIL was first diagnosed, I'm sure that is what they'll try her on first since she is so strongly ER+. And considering her age, that would be the most humane treatment. They even use it as a first assault in women who are diagnosed with mets, so don't be surprised if that's what they reccommend even if it has spread.

God bless her. Forty years is a really good run. My next door neighbor hit 35 years before it reoccurred.
