Hi. No scan at all since finishing tx which was when rads was finished as I'm TN. Oncologist says scans only when symptoms indicate the need.

No scans, only if needed, meaning a symptom of some sort. It would have to be a significant pain for him to scan. I just get blood work done every 3 months and a lung x-ray once a year, thats just standard my MO said..........So happy treatment is done for your wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was there recon at the time of the surgery, or was it postponed? If it was done then, or no recon was the decision, then things are finished except for the tamox and onc visits at set intervals, If your wife will have recon at a later date, I suggest requesting a CT/PET scan done then before committing to the cost and pain of recon.

My onc does bloodwork every visit (now at every six months); I see my gyn once a year. BS died this winter (very sad about that) but I have not felt the need to establish a new relationship with another BS. I'll only have another scan if/when there are symptoms that need clarification/explanation.

My onc at MGH says no scans and no tumor markers eithers unless there is a reason (persistent pain or other symptoms)

Same here-no scans or bloodwork unless symptoms.

What is up with my doctor then? He said we will discuss scans at my next visit:(  maybe it is because I am "technically" stage 4, but he considers me more a stage 3.

Same here. No scans or bloodwork unless symptoms. I'm ok with that.

I too will have no scans and maybe the stray blood marker test here or there.  Doctor said there are too many false results with both and that scans themselves are not good to keep administering.

Instead, I will see the onc to get refills for the Arimidex and he turned my testing over to my oncological breast surgeon for mammos/ultrasounds and I will still see the GYN for her tests (GYN actually is the one that initially found the tiny tumor).  The onc told me I should separate my GYN and surgeon appts apart so that in additon to what I should be doing there is always a clinical breast exam given every 6 months by doctors.

My onc does NOT do scans unless a patient is symptomatic or wants scans.....he does a complete physical, history and does labs...tumor markers, cbc and cmp.....till 5 years he saw me every 3 months...since 5 years, its every 6 months....for me, I'm happy to have NO scans....I stopped AI's 2 years ago.....
