Suzanne Somers statement on the Rosie Show

She personnifies the blonde bimbo she played on Three's Company. How could anyone look at her as a source of credible health advice? A few years ago, she was hyping the Thighmaster for gosh's sake!
-
The coffee enema guy is a proven quack and his patients have a worse outcome than if they didn't do his treatment. He hurts people, and that's a fact.
Pickles, you said you watched the Today show every morning and then don't understand why they draw viewers...aren't you are one of the people contributing to the ratings?. I'm not saying you shouldn't watch that show or anything but if people didn't watch it, or if they turned it off when a celebrity came on, then producers would stop having them on.
I agree that she probably had a bad experience witha doctor. But, a lot of people are conspiracy theorists too, you can see it with the alternative med people like she is. They think differently than most of us do, which is fine and what makes the world go around.
The problem with her is that she spouts her nonsense like it's fact and uses herself as an example. I keep thinking about some poor, uneducated woman watching the Rosie show at home with a lump in her breast and hearing that and deciding not to get it checked out because she's afraid it will break apart and metastasize.
I wonder if Suzanne actually has any blood on her hands? I wonder what she would say if it was proven somebody didn't get treatment because of her, and died?

Hi Cool, good point so let me rephrase. I watch the today show and flick to the other morning shows. I don't watch the celebrity segments unless it is someone I like which could be a politician, actor, author or musician.
I just don't watch the SS, Snooki, Kardashian, Paris types etc. Oh and Donald trump....no way!
What really bugs me is that sometimes the celebrities are even at the top of the "news" on every channnel.
The docs in SS's book are hacks.
Ann, as to your last question, I'm pretty sure she would write a book and blame the patient...not herself. -
Yeah, she'd blame it on their attitude.

I think Suzanne Somers should be the poster child for this year's edition of "Celebrities and Science":

I think we need to vigilantly communIcate with any show that puts her on and ask why they don't ask her the questions she needs to answer. What hOspital? What Dr diagnosed her? Why don't they have those drs on for rebuttal?
-
If she's ever on a call-in type show, that would be a good idea. You would have to tell the call screener that you were going to ask something innocuous but once you are on the air......:)
-
The doctors and hospital cannot dispute anything she says ... no matter how untrue ... because of the privacy laws. She knows that and takes full advantage of it.

I LOVE reading what other gals say that I agree with! And thanks for the link thenewme! But nothing has been mentioned about one of SS other money makers!
http://www.facemaster.com/ So now I know why I am not "beautiful" any more!
I haven't spent enough of my money on something to take away all my wrinkles and make me glow! I can't understand how a "celebrity" can talk about something, and knowledgeable people buy whatever they say.... and dismiss conventional medicine. Or like "Snookie" telling us "the reason the ocean is so salty, is because of all the Sperm Whales"...
Or Simon Cowell with his wonderful infusions... But so many people will believe and follow these regimens.... just because they "like" the celebrity.
The Kardashians?? Am I the only one sick of them? Ant then there was Kate plus 8...and the list goes on..........
I had read this one, about ms Sommers...and this is only part 1...

All I can say is... GAH!
-
The sad thing is, as deluded as she and her ilk appear to thinking individuals, she has a ridiculously strong influence. The key to challenging her is to find an educated, interested compassionate celeb who would be willing to take the contrary opinion. The trouble is, most of those women who face cancer and deal with it and go back to their real lives, HAVE real lives. Suzanne Somers has lived all of her life in fiction. There is no real Suzanne Somers, she is a fictional amalgam. The trouble is there are many Suzanne Somers. Kay

I came back here to see if there were any of those jelly donuts left.

entertainment....celebrity....comedy.....I know that...most know that....but I fear for those who do not know that....for those people that believe the act of getting on tv or in the news makes any of these people someone to believe...and its even worse when those that are spewing their so-called wisdom crossover to believing their own bs....you can't protect people from themselves...hero worship is an epidemic in our time and place....unfortunately, a large percent of our population choose the wrong people to emulate. Go to the mall...something as innocuous as clothing....see what people are wearing...little kids looking like hookers because Snookie does (and their parents buying the damn clothes) and older women trying to somehow be relevant by dressing like one of the Kardashians and landing up looking desperate...and that line of thought trickles UP up all the way to people's choices in regards to healthcare.....it is sad.
-
Otter, lol!
-
The only thing funny about this SS topic is Otter searching for more donuts..lol
-
Maybe we should start a pool, ladies, and we could buy a crate of jelly donuts to keep Suzanne Somers mouth busy. She could stuff her face instead of spouting garbage? Plus, we could see if all of her hormones and supplements help her fight off the fat of dozens of donuts. 2.4 cm is huge? Really? Then my 6 cm tumour ("Lumpy") must be headed for Guiness' next record book. I think SS is trying some of the other so called "cancer cures".

Here ya go....Suzanne IS a jelly donut
