    Had to fire my 1st Michigan PS ..                     .my new plastic surgeon..IS.. Dr. Rebecca Studdinger- Michigan- Hope the revision works well .... fresh post op here. Now its the waiting game....waiting for the final setting.Smile

    Great bayoubabe- Thanks!! We Michiganders need to stick together and make others aware if we have good results from our surgeons.  IE.. none of us want to go out of state for surgery if we can help it...   Any questions anyone can PM me also... thanks stix

    uds17-  Woohoo!!  How exciting!  I know I have seen lots of advice from ladies on where to stay and eat in Baltimore. It is going to be a great anniversary week for you and your hubby!!

    Hey Stix and Bayou - fellow Michigander here!  I follow this thread to stay in the loop on nip recon but I'm still leaning toward just 3D tit tats at some point.  Regardless, you and everyone else here going the nip recon route have my total support and prayers for great results!

    got an appt with a new PS next month - hopefully he will be open to the areola/nipple recon & i don't have to go to Switzerland ! I guess i also want someone to take a look at what's been done already - how do i know if everything is as it should be? I envision the new guy taking a look and saying " whoa! what happened to you!?" not funny i know - i guess i just want some reassurance...hopefully he speaks english...and is not too good-looking

    usd17, that's so exciting!  I'm not quite ready for my tattoos yet, but I will probably have them done in New Orleans when the time comes.  Maybe I need to go ahead and get on the schedule.  My Stage 2 is scheduled for September 18th.  And I know what you mean about getting somewhat back to normal.  I had actually thought about going to Baltimore for my tattoos.  My college BFF lives in Maryland and I could make a vacay out of it, and she could be there to share in my experience!  So, we'll see what happens.  In the meantime, I will live vicariously through you, my friend!

    thinkpink4ever- you could probably schedule in Baltimore , but in New Orleans they required a copy of my surgery notes before they would offer me an appointment. Good luck with your surgery!!

    I went to baltimore once for vinnie to correct my tattoo. I stayed in owing mills which is about 15 minutes from vinnie. I would only suggest one place in owings mills. I do remember a couple of other places that seemed closer to vinnie that were economical also

    For those who live in the NYC, Philly, or NJ area looking for a micropigmentation specialist  to finish their nipple reconstruction, I highly recommend Mandy Sauler who practices at a few locations.  I had my appointment this morning at Penn in the plastic surgery department.  I am very impressed with the results!  It is early yet and there may be some changes as the area heals, but what I see now I love!  I can go back in a few weeks if any touch ups are needed.

    Mandy worked with me to determine size, color, location and shape of my areolas.  Using her skills and talents, she recreated what cancer took away.  She added color and texture that looks very natural.  Her bedside manner and approach allowed me to relax and really enjoy the experience.  My appointment for both areolas took about an hour.

    Mandy works out of a few different offices and sees women from all over the tri-state area.

    My PS referred to his procedure as origami nipples (CV flap).  I had this procedure done  1.5 years ago.   They lost enough projection that I do not have to worry about 'high beams' all of the time.  There is more of a 'suggestion' that there are nipples under my shirt.  Mandy used coloring techniques to give them more of a 3D appearance.

     

    Once everything settles down and I figure out how to get back into the picture forum (forgot pw), I'll post some 'after' pictures.  I didn't even think to take 'before' pictures.

    Hi Teacher....I got my nips on June 18 and it does get a whole lot better 

    And it really looks like a real boob again.  Just waiting on my tats now.

    As someone who just got my tattoos this week, I can't say enough how good it feels to finally look somewhat normal!  The nipple construction was the beginning of reclaiming my 'normal' and the tats were just icing on the cake!  Every time I have the opportunity to walk past a mirror and take a peak, I do.  I know, a little weird!

     I told Mandy (micropigmentation specialist) that I want to flash people on my way home. I had no idea how important this was for me until I went through with it.

    Janetanned, not weird at all!  I can only imagine how happy you are that you've made it to the mountaintop!  At least, that's the name I've given it.  I keep saying that I can't wait to make it to the mountaintop and feel normal (or as close as I can get to normal) again.

    HappySpring, you're halfway closer than I am.  Go girl!

    Notbuyingit, I'd like to see them too.  I was on the fence, but now I'm leaning towards nipples and my Stage 2 is scheduled for Sept 18th.  I'm hoping that they start off pronounced and shrink to a subtle size - too little to be big and too big to be little.

    thinkpink, that is what i would hope for also - i am also thinking that an actual nipple reconstruct (areola & nipple) will give my new boob a more triangular shape - more like the natural breast - now is like a rounded mound in comparison - am i making sense?

    Nipples are easy, lipo means I don't move so fast. I didn't have much fat grafted, just to correct a couple of divots and add to the left. I can't imagine people don't it all over!

    Hi girls, it is time for me to join your forum if that is cool. I have been fighting the breast cancer beast for almost two years now and just had my port out yesterday (yay) since I am currently NED, and had my consult with the plastic surgeon about the - maybe - final reconstruction steps.

    My question is this- he wants to make "the girls" match better and this will involve cutting around the nipple on the side that has not had any surgery yet and moving it up higher. Has anyone had this done? do you still have sensation, if so?

    I am slowly getting some feeling back on the mastectomy/reconstructed side but am not eager to be numb on both sides. And how bad are the scars?

    Sorry for all the questions, I always get the straight answers for anything I am going through on these forums. I trust all of you more than the doctors! LOL

    sciencegal - while I have not had this done ( I lost one nipple due to BC, and saved the other during a nipple sparing mastectomy), I would advise against it.  I miss having nipple sensation more than anything that BC has stolen from me.  If that breast has not had surgery done, your nipple there is in a natural position.  Why not make the new one match that side and retain ALL sensation, no risk?
