Recommend book for DH/caregivers

Options

Hi,

My supportive husband is becoming more depressed since my recent DX (will have UMX and DIEP) May 1--on his birthday, no less.)

There are lots of books for caregivers, but can anyone recommend one for breast cancer caregivers, or partners/family members?

Breast Cancer Husband.  Can't remember the author, but I first bought this for my FIL when my MIL was diagnosed.  Even though he wasn't a big reader, he had it halfway finished by the following morning and really appreciated the information, support and tips he found in it.  When I was diagnosed it came in handy again for DH.

Here's a link to info about Breast Cancer Husband:  http://www.breastcancerhusband.com/, which came highly recommended to us, too.   The author is Marc Silver, and evidently it's presented with a lot of sports terminology, to which guys relate.

Good luck with your surgery!  I had a unilateral DIEP (at UCLA) 4 years ago, and while it seemed like a long haul in the beginning, today I never even realize that my recon'd breast isn't natural.  If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, but I'm sure you'll do great!    Deanna

Great, I'll look for the book. And thanks, dlb, I surely will have questions after the procedure....
