DX Oncotype testing
I had my appointment today with the Medical Oncologist to discuss the pathology report, etc. Everything is very positive and based on the results and numbers, etc. he is not recommending chemo. I will however have 16 rounds of radiation and ?? years on Tamoxifen. I knew that going into the surgery. I am relieved about the chemo however .... he is sending a sample of the pathology sample to the states for the DX Oncotype test. This is a more precise test that looks at 21 different genes. I am a bit nervous of what might come of that test and want to remain optimistic.
Has anyone else had this test done and what was the outcome?

I had it done here in the States, and the results are below in my signature. My Onc says the test is a hugh help in determining if chemo is necessary. But remember, results assume 5 years of Tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor.

Had the test with one positive node, and my score was 9, no chemo.
My RO said no rads for me as I had the BLMX.

Thanks Catbill for reminding me it assumes 5 years of Tamoxifen. My results were very good and I felt very good going into the app't so I can keep smiling (I think)

There is an entire thread on Oncotype DX scores. I had it done. Score was 17. I had to do chemo though because of other things found in my pathology.

Can someone help me find the Oncotype DX thread. There is so much information here that I am finding myself getting "lost". Thanks so much -- this is a great source of information.

What is BLMX?
-
mimib, BLMX is short for Bi-Lateral Mastectomy.
