Rt. Masectomy and Back and Shoulder Pain

Options

Have always, on and off, had mid- back and shoulder pain since my rt. masectomy in 2008. Lately it seems to have gotten worse. I have to be really careful about what I lift or carry, or what exercises I do. And for the past two weeks after exercising in the gym, my shoulder hurt across both sides. I iced it for two days and took ibuprofen and after about a week the pain subsided. But it's still hurts in my right shoulder everyday. Was wondering if aanyone else who has had a masectomy on one side has any problems like this. I keep thinking it;s because my body is out of alignement. My left breast is a D. So it is large and pendulous(since I nursed two children). Could it be that the extra weight on my left is causing this pain? Do women who have bi-lateral masectomies have problems with back pain and body proper body alignment. I keep thinking if I just have off with the other, maybe the pain will go away. Thank you for you time.

Hello ...Here's what I have experienced and learned...

Your body is trying to adjust and develop a "new way of thinking".  You have undergone major surgery and the adjustments will take time.

Did you have any nodes removed?  I have pain from LE in my shoulder/back/upper left side from node removal.  It varies a lot in pain/swelling/location.

My mx was on the left, as well as node removal, chest wall, an a piece of the nerve in auxillary.

I have techniques to control LE, I have been trained on physical theragy to keep my range of motion good, do very mild yoga and tell my doctors everything.

    I hope that helps you.

    ((((hugs))))

I just hopped over to this board from the Surgery Before During and After. The topic was UMX or BMX. Go read through and someone talks about problems they had because of imbalance.
