Hello Mods, please can you help me?  I got an e-mail from BCO stating "Hello ReadingMama,

Due to mis-use, we have revoked your ability to report posts that violate the Community Rules (http://community.breastcancer.org/help/rules). In addition, you can now only send a handful of private messages each day.

Abuse of the post reporting functionality and private messaging systems are a serious infraction of the rules, and may also result in your account being temporarily or permanently banned from the Community.

Thank you for helping us maintain a supportive and welcoming community for those diagnosed with breast cancer."

I don't understand at all why I received this as I only have done a few PMs and otherwise generally post on a few favorite threads.  As the e-mail, say do not reply, can you please explain why I got this e-mail and what it means?  I certainly don't think I have posted anything that qualifies as mis-use?

Have you been reporting posts continuously?  I think this message relates to the pressing the report a post button? and has nothing to do with how often you post or your private messaging?  Well I hope it is an error for you, maybe a glitch.  Hope it gets resolved soon for you!

I have accidentally hit "report this post" several times. You get asked "do you really want to do this," and I've always say "no". Still, on some web sites I click on anything just to move on. Could you have done that, RM?

People have also gotten that same email if somebody else reported one of their posts ... on purpose or accidently.

It's intended for people who report too many posts that shouldn't have been reported.  There are obviously glitches in the system with it though because it goes out inappropriately a lot I think.

I've never reported a ppost, so I don't understand.  I will hope the MODS will reply.

There are definitely glitches in the system, because the system sends that email if someone has reported a post of YOURS (as WhiteRabbit noted) -- and obviously, that shouldn't happen, but it has been happening for probably a year...

    Hi ReadingMama:

I'm sorry this happened to you! Your PM and reporting privileges have been fully restored.

What probably happened was that someone who received a PM from you accidentally clicked the Report as Spam button instead of Reply or Delete (all three of the buttons are together, side by side by side), and that automatically triggered the email to you. We're working with the tech team to institute a better way to be able to flag real spam, without having members accidentally caught in the cross-fire.

If anyone gets something like this, please post, or send us a PM and we can reverse it without delay.
