broken rib

Options

it's 10 years since i finished rads - still have some breast and rib soreness, but much less than before.  anyway i fell last week and broke a rib that is a radiated rib.  i know that the ribs are more brittle, and that's probably why it broke, but my question is does it take longer to heal and is there a chance that it wont heal at all.  anything i can do to help speed the recovery?  if anyone has any answers, i'd appreciate it.

thanks, terri

Sorry, Terri, I have no advice but am posting to bump this up so someone who may have some suggestions will see it. Hugs!

I have no direct experience but when my brother broke a rib it took a good long while to heal. (I guess all broken bones do. Remember how kids walk around with casts on their arms seemingly forever?). I think ribs are tricky too because it can be harder to avoid using your torso (than say your arm). Did the docs give an estimated recovery time? Hang in there!
