Pagets and IDC?

I was diagnosed with IDC yesterday and have an appointment with a surgeon on Monday. Both the radiolologist and my PCP feel the tumor is small enough I could do a lumpectomy. Which I was very happy to hear. Now as I am looking back on this whole not fun roller coaster ride I am remembering that this started with a sore on my nipple which the radiolologist and my PCP are unaware of. Now I am afraid I won't be able to have a lumpectomy, that they will have to remove my nipple also. I was doing ok with the thought of a lumpectomy, but a mastectomy scares me. Anyone have a sore on there nipple around the same time your IDC was found?

    Pagets is pretty rare but not impossible.  The good news is that usually it doesn't show up as a sore.  i would certainly be talking dirrectly with a breast surgeon, not a pcp for any breast surgery, particularly if you're worried about the possiblity of paget's in addition.  

    Again, it's probably not, but do make sure you let the surgeon know and look at it.
