So, I woke up with celluitis

Hi, Ladies!!!! I have been on a maintenance antibiotic for a year now. It was prescribed by my infectious disease doctor in IN, since I had two bouts of cellulitis. We have since moved to CA and my new onc and new PCP want me to go off and just take Clindamyacin as needed. My son is getting married in May, and I do not want any cellulitis issues so I will take half of the dose until then, once a day, instead of twice a day. TerriD, I sure hope your mom gets this resolved, you must all be so worried and just want answers. To all of you who have had cellulitis, I pray that we can be healed of this awful affliction. I have not had cellulitis in over a year now, and I think I know what may trigger it now, so I am playing it safe. Hugs to you all!!!!

Kindergarten: what do you think is triggering it? Ittook me a very long time to figure mine out. I too was on antibiotics for a year, but I got so scared of c-diff (diahreahha was pretty bad) taht I stopped. Since I have learned ot move my fluid (lymphedema) and have been keeping my sugar in control I have NOT had an outbreak (since Nov). Good luck to you. Do you have lymphedema??? hugs t

Hi, TerriD!!!! How is your mom doing?? Yes, I do have lymphedema, diagnosed when I was in the hospital with my first bout of cellulitis. Congrats on not having a bout of cellulitis since November. You have had your fill of it, I am sure. I will pray that you keep it away. I went to anLE Therapist in Chicago and she did release me with a diet and daily exercises. I also wear my sleeve every day. By keeping my weight down, blood sugar levels normal and doing the daily arm exercises, I feel I can keep the cellulitis at bay. But, I have also have been on amoxicillin daily for a year too. I also drink lots of water and green tea, take a daily tbsp of cinnamon and garlic and a Tbsp of apple cider vinegar in water twice a day. A nurse gave me the tip of the vinegar to keep my blood sugar levels normal. Since moving to CA, I walk alot and ride bikes, so hopefully all this will keep the cellulitis away. I will go off the amoxicillin in May and keep a script of Clindamyacin on hand. Hugs to you, I really like this thread. I hope we can all help each other. Binney and Kira are also great advisors and hope they chime in as well. Have a great day!!!!

HI Kathy, "tip of vinegar"??? what is that? What does the cinnamon, garlic and apple cider do fo rthe lymphedema or cellulitis??? I did not see probiotic on your list. (can help avoid c-diff from being on antiobiotic so long). I alos hope you use Euceryin lotion daily, avoid sunburn and bug bites. hugs terri

Hey, Terry!!!! Sorry, for my misspelling!!! I put a Tbsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water twice a day. The cinnamon helps with blood pressure and the garlic helps with the immune system. I eat yogurt every day and drink a probiotic Keifer smoothie as well. I forgot to mention that, because the doctor told me it would keep me from getting yeast infections. You are so right, I have got to keep lathered in lotion, now that we are in CA. Hugs to you and glad to hear that your Mom is feeling better. Kathy
