Please help me understand my report
Hi Ladies,
Usually I hang out in the DCIS club, but I had a CT scan that showed scattered sclerotic foci (one 1 cm in my sacrum) and some near or in my L2. I'm having a bone scan tomorrow, and the ONC said if I had had invasive cancer, we would be having a very different converstation. She isn't sure what it is.
My question is this: Has anyone jumped from DCIS to bone mets?
Thanks!

Hi Eema, while I didn't jump from dcis to stage 4 (I was stage 2), there are some stage 4 women who jumped from dcis to stage 4. When it happens, obviously there was a small part of invasive cancer that was not detected.
that being said, scans can show a lot of things that aren't cancer. I don't have bone mets, and I have arthititis and degenerative disc that shows up in my bones when I have scans done.
Hope it is nothing!

Just to let you know that while having an abd/pelvic CT for fibroid checkup reasons, they noticed a small "sclerotic" spot on the left side pedicle of my T12 vertebrae. So the gyno wanted a full body bone scan due to my bc history. Naturally, I had to be peeled off the wall over this. Had the bone scan, and it showed absolutely nothing at all. Both gyno and onc were not worried as they felt it was "wear and tear." I am most grateful they were correct. Also, none of my blood tests showed elevation in anything (not that that always matters). So, I am wishing you the best, as well. I too hope it is nothing.

I was out 10 years from DCIS when they found bone mets. There is a 1% chance of it happening so it is not common. As the other have said sclerotic spots aren't always cancer but it is a good idea to find out because limited bone only is a mcuh better scenerio. I hope it is nothing

So the scan found something in the L2. I need two different biopsies, on there and one on and enlarged lymph in my chin.
BS says this is more likely from melanoma I had @ 17.
My choices were wait and watch it grow or biopsy. Guess what I chose? I'm not waiting for anything to grow in my vertebra. -
I don't blame ya, I wouldn't wait either! Especially if this could be either melanoma or breast cancer.
-
Edema, good luck with your biopsy! I don't blame you, I wouldn't wait either.

I can't believe I am STILL waiting for the biopsies to be scheduled. And was told by someone, "I only scedule BREAST biopsies and you don't have breasts!"
