a diefferent approach- thoughts or info please?
My MIL has stage IV Endometrial clear cell carcinoma. Clear cell effects less than 5% of all endometrial cancers. It is hormone and chemo resistant. The oncologists are dragging their feet, she is on no chemo or treatment what so ever. My SIL decided to try a different approach since we don't seem to be finding answers anywhere else.
The holistic Dr she took her to wants to put her on D-3, kirkebum (from curry) and Reiche spore ( a potent mushroom) she would take this every 6 hours and he claims with in a couple of days the cancer will start dieing and she will ooze a white gooey substance, which is the cancer. He wants her on a high alkaline no sugar diet.
Sooooo- I have no idea. If it was that easy wouldn't everyone do it?
Thoughts?
*different approach- jeeze! I need to learn to proof read!

This holistic "Dr" is a quack and if she does it she will be wasting her money. She has a very aggressive cancer and the only offering this quack can give her is false hope.
I will send you a pm of a woman that I knew that had the same cancer and fell for similar quackery. It's a sad tragic story. This other woman was told to douche with sodium bicarb ("to alkalize the cancer"). She was told the tumor would break up and come out in clumps. The clumps were actually sodium bicarb. She suffered at the hands of quacks and checked out of hospice 3 times. She needed numerous blood transfusions. The only thing she got for her money was false hope. I hope you MIL does not pursue this path.

Laurie, all of the things the "doctor" mentioned (and I suspect that 2nd one is curcumin, the major component of turmeric, one of the spices used to make curry) are definitely cancer fighting agents. However, none of them has ever been proven to cure cancer or make cancer ooze out of one's body. I'm extremely alternative minded, and that regimen and the "doctor's" description of the anticipated results sounds like pure quackery to me.
If your MIL wants to pursue alternative therapies because conventional medicine has nothing to offer her, surely there are more reputable alternative doctors and clinics. I believe Suzanne Somers book, Breakthrough, lists some. Otherwise, maybe contact something like the Block Institute in Chicago, a highly rated integrative medicine clinic, and see if they have anything to offer.
I'm so sorry about your MIL's situation, but I agree with Black-cat that she would be wasting her money, time, and any bit of hope with the "doctor" you've described. (((Hugs))), and I hope you can help her find another alternative. Deanna

I'd like to second the recommendation for the Block Center - they are way up on all of the effective alternative treatments, plus the latest conventional ones. I'm thinking about going out there to get another opinion, even though I'm pretty much finished with treatment. ( A few more Herceptins to go and Tamoxifen, but that's it.)

Thank you all so much fro your replies. I am going to suggest The Block Center to my MIL and SIL. I truly appreciate the feedback.
