i was just in the preteen undie section at Penny's .... boy they are sooo cute.. too sexy, but really cute.. All we had was white.

We called them training bras, and yes, a triple A was completely flat. (Kind of like me now) *laugh*

I saw the same pretty underwear in the pre-teen and teen section at Target. Really pretty, but way too sexy. (Padded underwires? Nope, we never had that.)

I always thought the purpose of a slip was to cover up for clothing that was too see-through.  The half slip is great for wearing skirts.  So yes....I know what it is but having problems finding the words to describe it.

I know both things - half slip is when (example) top and bottom are light and dark.   Black half slip with top of a pale color, so black does not show through - or vice versa.   Or, a full slip would be too hot because usually a "silky" material.   My mother always wore a full slip under her nurses uniform.

A full  slip helps hide the outline of a bra on a top with sheer fabric.   Anyone try to find a full slip lately? Of course, my usual shopping places are "discount" stores like Target, Walmart, and KMart...  

How about this - what is a camisole?    Or a Dickey...  These are terms used in the USA - sorry about Canadian or UK or Aussie.

This is a great thread! We cross such a wide range of ages, I think some of the questions may be more familiar to some than others (I loved 'Are you there God, It's me Margaret'). The smell of Prell totally takes me back to childhood! I twisted my apple stem to find out who I would marry...also did jump rope the same way.  FYI: the drawer where they keep the speculum at my gyno is heated, so they don't run it under water.

Now, not having had a period for several months, I thought of something that guys definitely wouldn't know: that we (at least I) keep two types of underwear for use, depending on the time of the month!  The ugly, stained ones, and the pretty, unstained ones.  I don't know if it's worthy of the quiz, but certainly girlie knowledge (and perhaps too much information for the guys!)

I will also count this as one of those 'silver linings' of chemical-induced menopause...I can safely wear pretty underwear ANY day of the month!

That is so true about the different knickers for different times of the month! I hate grey knickers! a heated drawer foe speculum???? No way!!

Pettipants are like half slips, only with legs.....

I wear them in the summertime under dresses, so that my big fat thighs don't rub together.

When your acrylic nails grow out, you need FILLS!!!!

The gross part is when you get a fungus underneath one of them.

I had acrylic nail ONCE.  What I really hated the most is when they start to grow out and the adhesive starts to unbond where your real nail is is the dirt that becomes trapped in there particularly if I was eating messy finger food.  Grossed me out.  I had them filled once then when it was needing done again I had the nail tech remove them.  That was enough for me.

Isn't "mittleschmerz" that alternating pain around your ovaries? I remember hearing that term  when I was dealing with fibroids the size of small Volkswagens.

Facts of life? All the 5th graders (boys and girls) had to go sit through some humiliating, vaguely educational movie one evening in the cafeteria. Of course, to make it worse, our parents had to attend with us.

I think we all walked out afterwards in a daze...eerily silent....making no eye contact whatsoever...and as far as I know, no one ever spoke of it again.

apple - nice new pic!  My mom purchased a kit from Kotex for a girl's first period.  It had supplies (pads and a belt - this was before peel & stick products) and a pamphlet.  I still remember how embarrassed she was about the whole thing.

Facts of life movie - we also got that but in gym class.  The boys were in one room and the girls were in another.  No one talked about it so it wasn't until years later, we discovered we'd seen the same flick.

Blessings, you are on the right track.  Middleschmertz is what the women in my family called the pain in the middle of your cycle when the egg burst out of the fallopian tube.
