One year mammogram--all clear!
I want to share my good news. I had my first official mammogram after BC Tx and it was all clear! Hurrah! I asked if it could be read while I waited. The diagnosing radiologist read them first, and then called me back and showed me films--all good. He had the ones from last year and so we compared. (Before--white spot. After--no white spot but three pins left by the BS). I asked if the scar tissue obscured the view and he said there was very little scar tissue. (I finished rads in May, so I think it would have shown by now, right?). Anyway, I'm thrilled. My Dx was 2/11/2011 so it's my Dx cancerversary week Weird anniversary, to say the least.
As an FYI, someone warned me that I might be grumpy/edgy in the couple weeks leading up to the appt. Last week I felt great but this weekend I was really crabby, ready to complain about anything, and this morning when I walked in the building I almost started to cry. Crazy. Last week I remember thinking how well I was handling everything. Well, guess again. Just an FYI in case anyone will be going through this soon. Be kind to yourself leading up to your appt.

Congratulations! I'm glad they read them while you waited -- that's SOP for women with a prior history of bc at the mammography site I go to, and I absolutely understand why. We already went through the waiting game.
Yay YAY for a clear mammogram!

I have my first six month mammo post diagnosis this Wednesday! I'm going to a new, small facility affiliated with my BS rather than the huge hospital Women's Center, so I'm hoping for some info right then and there!
Grumpy? Moody? Edgy? Who, me?

Thanks janey! When I made the appt the place said they would give me results that day but couldn't say for sure if it would be as I waited (I asked it to be read by my same diagnosing radiologist, and he also does biopsies etc etc). Anyway, yes, YAY! Thanks!
madpeacock, good luck with your mammo tomorrow. I was really grumpy the day before, so maybe you can schedule distraction therapy today.

Tomorrow, I go for my first mammogram since my dx 6 months ago, and I am very apprehensive about it....I've always dreaded them, but it was a mammogram ( not found or felt by me ) that found mine early...

Susan, I'm hoping your mammo goes well and you get an all clear.
My first post diagnosis is on September 12th and when I think about it, I get edgy. I could cry sometimes when I think about it...I'm both looking forward to and dreading it at the same time.
My bc was also caught on a routine mammo as well. I couldn't feel the lump neither could any of the doctors.
Sending good thoughts your way for tomorrow!

I had my first one since the lumpectomy in February (one year after the surgery) they mailed me the result which said everything was fine.
In my case though, I don't really trust mammograms since they missed both my cancers so I'm very vigilant about doing breast exams monthly.
Hope you guys are too --just doing mammograms without self-exams is not enough.
The Breast Cancer Director agreed with me. She says mammograms are not 100 percent accurate (unfortunately)
