Hi,

I need some help here.  My mom was diagnosed with aggresive breast cancer has gone 5 chimo's, but this last one sent her to the hospital two days after the chimo.  She was diagnosed with dehydration when she got to the hospital this past sunday (01-29-12) and hasn't left the hospital.  I need to know or if someone can explain to me as to why she's doing diarreah with blood and the urine with blood? Has it spread already? or is it just from the dehydration? Can someone help me out here.

Thanks,

Robert Farias

    Hi Robert,

I'm sorry you're having to watch your mom go through this - it's very difficult as a family member to feel so helpless.

I'm sure the doctors will pinpoint what's happening with your mom but it could very well be the chemo causing the blood in her wastes and also her dehydration.  My husband is going through chemo right now and he has had these symptoms.  Just a thought.

Hope this helps - I'm sure more knowledgeable folks will post soon.

Hang in there - prayers going up for you and your family.

I agree with Margi, that is most probable a chemo effect, especially if she didn't drink enough liquid. Hydration is VERY important during chemo, she needs to drink about a gallon of liquid a day to help her kidneys detoxify the body - do not forget chemo is a powerful poison and there is a fine line the dr's have to walk when it comes to killing the cancer cells without killing the patient.

You might want to look in the chemo board on this forum and ask your questions there, you will get a lot of info.

Good luck to your mother, I hope she will feel better soon. Chemo is not a pleasure ride, that is for sure.

Well, she's now out of the hospital (Jan 30 - Feb 16), but now she can sit down or stand up since she feels dizzy and feels that's she's going to fall down.  Are these symtopms also because of the chimo? Are there some vitamins that she can take for the dizziness to go away or any other type of medication?? Just want for my mother to at least sit down.

make sure you tell your mom's doctor about the dizziness.  It can definitely be a med side effect.  What meds is she on now that she's been released?
