Dreading Going Back on AI

So I guess this is it.  I really have to start back on the AI after going off Tomoxifen in June.  I've had a nice little break from it but I'm facing the reality that now since my knee issues are resolving after knee surgery and PT I really guess I should go back on them.  My onc will be glad to hear that.Frown  I am just so apprehensive about Aromosin SE, since I couldn't handle the Arimidex and Tomox.  Maybe I should just wait for a specific date and just decide to start again. What do you think?  Should I wait till after my yearly mammogram in February?

I would be dreading it also Barb.  I've done Arimidex and now on Aromasin and the Aromasin is much, much easier for me.  My hands are what bothers me the most and mostly in the morning.  I don't think I could have tolerated Arimidex for 10 years but think I can the Aromasin.  I'm glad to hear the knee is resolving, it's been a hard journey but sounds like it's coming to an end finally.  I hope you're able to tolerate it.

Barb, you have gone through so much!  If it were me, I would wait until everything is back in shape and the knee is finished healing.  It seems like the AIs go for the weak areas first.

Why wait?   You don't know if you will have a problem or not with the Aromasin.   Lots of people tolerate it just fine.   If you can't tolerate it, then you can re-evaluate.   In the meantime, you are protecting yourself from a recurrence.

I'm so glad to hear that you're well enough to consider getting back on the AI horse.

Barb....glad to hear that your knee is doing better.....

I don't have any words of wisdom regarding the AI's.....I endured 3 1/2 years and said enough is enough...I quit in March 2010.....my onc would love for me to be on them, but when I asked in August it would be a new  5 years....I can't even begin to fathom 5 more years again....for me QOL is more important than quantity.....I see my onc the 23rd of this month for my 6 month follow up.....yesterday was 6 years since Dx....

Listen to your heart and do what feels right for you.....Hugs, karen

Were you prescribed hormone therapy for 5 or 10 years?

Hi girls, I am new to this chatting!

So good to hear from you all, that atleast there are options for us.

I am now 6yrs post diagnosis of ILC,HR+ve and HER-ve.

Have been on arimidex for the last 5 years.  What are your thoughts/research for

another 5 yrs?  Want to go to the oncologist with other options or not??

Of course Arimidex is rough, but have tolerated ok, though I feel atleast 10yrs older or more!!

love to hear your thoughts and experiences...

Shit Barb (scuse the foul language),

Don't worry about the "what if's".  Give it a shot and if you find it untolerable you can always go off of it.

    Love you,

    Sharon

Ok, I'm going to start on the Aromosin as soon as I do my yearly mammo this month.  At least I'll have a start date as a goal.
