over 70 yrs old DX triple positive

Is there anyone 70 yrs or older that is DX with triple positive ?   I have to make a decision before monday regarding treatment. I would love to know what treatment you had or are having.

I am the same as you and 70 yrs. old.  I have 2nd opinion tomorrow and then have to decide by Monday on the treatment.  1st onc. said TCH and arimidex.  He made some calls and thought because of age he should try Herceptin alone with arimidex.  I have the echocardiogram and PetScan and all was normal.  Now I'm waiting on the 2nd opinion.  I had MX (right) Dec. 29 and was DX Jan.2012.  I also have MS so this perhaps complicates treatment.  I am doing alot and feel good so I do not look forward to what comes with chemo.  However, I will do whatever I need to do.  I drive 100 to babysit grandchildren 2 days a week and I'm afraid this may need to stop.

What decision did you make.  I would love to know how treatment goes for you.  There are not many of us over 70.

Seeing your post this very day, I would like to tell you I was 70 at dx, have had lumpectomy, Taxotere 6 cycles, 30 rads, Herceptin for a year, Femara 21 months, now Aromasin!

All treatments were doable, now doing well!

I was almost 68 when I got my stage iv initial diagnosis and got 6 TCH, lumpectomy, radiation.  I did fine and at 72 am still NED.   I would insist on at least a lumpectomy plus TCH though maybe 4 rather than the usual 6 TC.  But check out the stage 1 page.   And insist on a year of herceptin.  Ask about what would be recommended if you were 50 and assuming you are more or less in good shape, go with what a 50 year old would get.  Good luck!
