Just a comment, not necessarily a discussion  -  Readings vary as to the percentage, commonly giving a rough estimate of between 1/4 and 1/3 (25% to 33%).

But I just noticed in reading UpToDate 19.3 that the percentage is given as:

"Amplification or overexpression of the HER2 oncogene is present in approximately 18 to 20 percent of primary invasive breast cancers."
