Have a Question...

Was diagnosed with LCIS in 2007 and have been doing mammograms and ultra sounds since and all has been good till this year they said they saw changes so, I had a core biopsy in Dec. and finally got results which were B9...BS said they removed the calcifacations with the biopsy and my diagnosis was still LCIS and will need mammograms every six months again...they put in a marker this time.

Was posting on "Not Diagnosed Yet" but, now I am just wandering if any of you have had core biopsy after diagnosed with LCIS and that your  mammogram showed changes and did your breast burn and sting after core biopsy?  It has been about a month since I had it done and was wondering if it was normal or do I need to call doctor.

Burning and stinging can happen after a core biopsy, but if it is there a month out you should check with your doctor.  Most likely it is fine, but it would be good to have it checked.

I had 'zingy' sensations after my core biopsies (and especially after my surgical excision) for several months.  I have read that this involves the reactions of the nerves that have been cut.

Will you be having an excision?  While there is some controversy about having an excision, most (not all) doc recommend an excision, at least unless some very specific criteria have been met.

I am starting to think it is the nerves...there is no redness or swelling.

There will be no excision this time...BS said to keep doing the mammograms and ultra sounds every six months...I was at the point where they were going to have me come back every year for the mammograms but, this puts me back to square one again.

    Thanks for info.

Talked to doctors PA today and she said that it was normal to have the burning feeling after the biopsy and as long as there is no redness or swelling or I'm not running a fever that it should be ok....just watch for those things and call if it gets worse or doesn't go away.

Thanks for the replies...you know how it is you just get a little worried when these things happen and good to just come and get a little support.

    Take care everyoneSmile

That sounds good to me too.  I think its normal to worry going through a medical procedure, especially when you're getting a diagnosis.   I've sure read stories of newly diagnosed (and not so newly diagnosed) people think they are getting cancer of the hair or toenails whenever anything feels 'out of the norm'.

I'm so glad you asked so you can be reassured.
