Neck driving me nuts
Had cellutitis in Aug followed by lymphdema and three month of therapy. My left side of neck seems thicker than right. I have noticed this since lymphedema started. The therapist never noticed anything and I was at Onco last week, mentioned it, he seemed to think it was ok. I have another upcoming dr appt and will bring it up again. You can not see it, I just know its there. Perhaps I am getting weirder by the day, dont know. My lymphedema was in my entire left side. Back and shoulder, is this all related. Everytime I look it up anywhere I get sent to a cancer site that doesnt involve bc. I cant get my body well without getting my head well

Jennifer, recently I found a reference about truncal LE extending to the neck. Let me try and figure out where I found it. This is NOT the first time it's been mentioned.

Jennifer, very early stage LE is not detectable but involves feelings of heaviness or achiness or just plain "feels funny." So this could well be early LE and only you would know it. You are NOT getting weird -- you're just fine, and you're absolutely right to pursue it. Have you talked to your therapist about it?
As an experiment, you might want to add neck/facial MLD to your self-MLD routine and see if that relieves it:

thank you, I think the radiation screwed with my neck nodes have a sinus infection off and on since this started. Its just enough drive me a little crazier and since my onco didnt seem concerned I guess I shouldnt be. There is alot of scar tissue involved in that area and none of this started til I had lymphadema in Aug, was fine for 8 months. My flex machine has point it hits in that area but doesnt do the neck going to try the drainage thats posted

Jennifer, if you're using a Flexitouch that may well be pushing fluid into your neck. Have you been clearing your nodes before using it? Try doing the facial/neck massage both before and after using the Flexi, and if that doesn't help do see your therapist to check out whether the pump is what's causing this to happen. Just a thought.

i massage starting by trying to pull liquid (?) from the bottom of the neck in the center and pushing it toward my torso.. then the lower sides, then the upper sides. on you tube there are some suggestions.. just try 'neck lymphedema'.. it actually really helps in that my nodes are involved. it keeps them from swelling. I am not a definitive source of info.. you'll kind of have to research and experiment yourself.

Oh thank you so much, this is driving me wacko and cant stand it anymore. I will try these things.
-
Well I did the drain thing and it seems a little better already, thanks all of you, hopefully I am not just dreaming this. When I got bc must have been under a rock. I knew odds and what I had but never did it cross my mind to think that the treatment would take me down. I did not read this board then however I will make sure that everyone I know going through this does.

I am having the same pain issues. My shoulder and neck are killing me. its driving me crazy. the x ray didnt show anything and now I am freaking out because they want me to have a bone scan!!!
-
Jennifer, I sent you a private message.

Dont freak, my shoulder was horrible but is better now. I still wrap my arm at nite and wear a sleeve because I dont want it to go back. The neck thing scared me alot but since my doctor wasnt too concerned I presume I shouldnt be. I had a large tumor however it was encased but did escape to my arm lymph nodes. I was scanned after treatment and nothing showed up and this isnt a lump but just feels different and drives me nuts. Just so hard to move on when your body keeps betraying you and I want to move on.
