WOW! Fantastic!!! I'm just going to follow in your footsteps, I guess....3 1/2 more years for me before I can post 6 years! Thanks for posting and showing us it can be done!!
-
Congrats Carol! Welcome to the 6 years NED Club! I Love to see our group growing and adding more years under their belt! Wishing all of us many, many more healthy years to celebrate!
-
Ali- I decided not to reconstruct because it just was not important to me. After all the treatment I just wanted to get back to "normal". Not that I would base the decision on my husband, but he did not care one way or the other (actually encouraged me NOT to do recon) and since I really did not want to do it I skipped.

This is such inspiring news. I love to hear that you are at year 6 now. Yes, our 6+ year group is growing, isn't it? Hope you celebrated in your own way and have many more anniversaries. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful.. wonderful news.. sooo inspiring.. I will have my mom read all of this .. she is on here (Jennyruth) and she is stage III with 8/11 nodes positive. All these positive stories give so much hope and encouragement. She just had her second chemo and she is truly amazing. I love her with all my heart<3

Carol, I am so happy for you!! Congratulations.

Carol,
I am so excited for you. Every year just feels better and better. Your book also has an extra benefit of being so encouraging because people who google the author will see you are still alive and doing awesome things. You are influencing so many and giving us all hope. I'll be watching for you next year at this time when I post five and you get to 7!
I just have to post when I see those who wo encouraged me when I was diagnosed. Keep it up because I'm following in your footsteps.

Carol, thanks so much for sharing this! I am so much more encouraged by your single post than all the survivor books given to me by well-meaning friends (those "hey, I had breast cancer, did the surgery etc, held a full-time job, raised 5 kids, kept the house & chickens up, and YOU CAN TOO!" )
When I was first diagnosed, the mammograms had missed it - found it when it was over 5 cm, over a rib so I must have mistaken it for that, as must my PCP. Did the treatments, had recurrence less than 6 months after last chemo, pathology diagnosis came back IIIc. Did more surgery, no further chemo for me because I have already been on several drugs with major SEs, so now it seems like a "take tamoxifen, wait and see."
I have been quite scared, try to never show my fear to DH, family, friends. Taking 1 day at a time, trying to find joy each day, but this crazy fear in the back of my mind has taken its toll. Your post brought me to tears of relief. I am ready to start new things, enjoy new things, and not worry that I won't be able to finish them. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I lose hope, I read things like this and feel much better.

Yay for you and Yay for us! May you continue to enjoy great health!!
Please keep such inspirational stories coming - they help my sometimes dark world seem so much brighter!
-
Congratulations Carol and also to Linda Lou.

Hi, Congratulations on your 6th year. SharonH
-
Just finished treatment and put on Arimidex. I am stage III with a lot of node involvement so Arimidex is to prevent recurrence and hopefully it works. Congratulations, may you be here 6 years from now with a 12 year anniversary! (actually be here for a 20th or more anniversary would be great)!
-
Carol,
Congratulations!!! You were one of those that reached out to me when I was first dx. I can't tell you how happy I am for you. Yippeeee!!
Hugs,
Rachel
-
