hi all

This is a question to all you ladies that have had neo adj chemo.  I just had surgery yesterday and they tell me all my sentinal nodes were clear so they did not have to remove any axillary nodes.  I am happy about that as i know there are risks of lymphedema etc with removing all lymphs.  My only concern is that i hear the false-negative rate is 5-10% - so for 5-10% of patients even if the SNB is clear they still had infected axillary nodes. This concerns me as i already did my chemo - I am doing rads thoiugh

thanks so much - this place is so helpful!

Interesting.  I don't have an answer, but my BS had told me with neo adj chemo (which I had) means you have to have the ALND because, assuming the chemo works, they can't tell is the nodes had cancer in them or not.  In my case, I had a positive node biopsy before chemo, so she told me I would definatley get ALND.
