How to enter the chat rooms?
Hi, the Australian Sisters organised a party tonight in one of the chat rooms. I could not find any door to the rooms on the chat rooms page and the instructions did not state how to enter the two rooms mentioned.
I tried to download Java software but it didn't seem to change what was on my screen. There was a box with an option to register but no obvious entry point for registered members.
So I missed the party.

I don't think my computer would allow me to download something to do with Active X even though I gave permission. The computer said it would not allow it as it could not verify the publishing source. There was no option to override the computer's decision.

Racy, we're sorry you had a problem connecting to Chat for the party!
Can you let us know what platform (PC or Mac), version (Windows 7, Mac OS 10.5.8, etc) and browser/version (I.E, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) you're using? That may help pinpoint what happened as you tried to connect to Chat, and maybe point to issues we can bring to the tech team to look into.

Thanks for responding mods. I am using a PC, Windows 8 I believe and Internet
Explorer browser. -
Hi Mods - I had problems too. I got in ok, but after about half an hour, anything I typed came up as red and when I pressed enter it didn't go into the chat box. I exited and tried again, but I kept being told that I was already in the room and couldn't go in again.
I use a PC, Windows 7 and Internet explorer
Thanks for your help!

I'm on a Mac and I can't find a portal into chat either.

1openheart, I use a Mac too, and find that when I use the Firefox browser I don't see the portal, but with Safari I do.
When you click Chat Rooms from the top navigation bar of any page here in the forums, or go directly to http://www.breastcancer.org/community/chat_rooms there should be a panel that looks like the one shown below. Enter the registered name that you use in the discussion boards, and your BCO password, then click the button to enter.
Having problems? Our Chat uses a Java applet, and if your computer or mobile device doesn't support Java, you might not be able to get in. Be sure you have Java enabled, and consider allowing pop-ups. If you have the option of trying a different browser, do try that too.
No one to chat with? We find that the chat rooms are most active during "prime time" of the evenings (in North American time). Or you could set up a time to meet in Chat with your BCO friends.

I use Safari, but I don't use Java. Usuallly I can just allow plug ins for the sites I want to go to that require java. I enabled pop up windows too. It will not go to the portal. Oh well.....
