Post lumpectomy scar changes?

I had a lumpectomy for phyllodes and was told by my surgeon that I would have a "dent" afterwards.  Well, the area of the scar seemed to be kind of straight across instead of rounded out like it used to be, but I wouldn't have called it a "dent" exactly.  Like I said, it wasn't as full as before but was just sort of flat there.  Now I'm about 5 months out from surgery (I think?) and it is dented looking now.  So now I'm kind of weirded out, wondering if that's just the result of any last bit of swelling finally having gone away, or if it could mean something.  The original lump that I had came with a slight flattening, so I'm super sensitive if I think the contours look different in any way.  I am very closely followed so will be talking to my docs soon, just wondering if it's possible for postsurgical swelling to take that long to go away and leave a final "dented" result.

It can take up to a year for the fat to move around and fill in; so you really wen't know what the final 'look' will be for quite awhile.

Okay, this makes me feel a little better.  At this point, I don't even care if it's dented, I just don't want any recurrences!  I guess I just get a little weirded out by any changes in the area and am not sure if it's part of the ongoing healing process or something more sinister.

Get it checked out when you go in; but it is probably just 'normal' healing stuff.

I did not look dented at all until maybe a year after surgery. It just took that long for the swelling caused by radiation to go down.

I see your in Lexington ky. I am as well I have never meet anyone in Lexington with phyllodes.
