2012 Dating stuff.
I've just started dating again with my stage 4 dx and don't see many current posts. I'm 54 and doing the plenty of fish thing. Have had 4 meetings and the last one looked very promising. I like to tell these guys about my dx before we even meet so they can have a chance to run and hide. How are all of you handling this dating thing?

Hi Lynda,
I'm close in age and newly diagnosed and also newly single and almost divorced. I'll be interested in what others say their experience has been. My impression based on a couple of guy friends I have is they are not as empathetic or into the details of the disease like women are and the diagnosis probably won't bother them.
You should take a look at OKcupid....matches are based on random questions you answer so that gives it a fun twist. Its free as well.
Good luck.

Hearing your experiences would be good. I've recently turned 52 and scheduled for a pbmx next month.

Tell me Galsal what a pbmx is? My original dx looks a lot like yours. I'm having fun with the pof (plentyofish) thing. One guy just wanted sex (yuck), one just wasn't my type, one wanted too serious of a relationship too soon but #4 seems promising. I don't really know yet if I'm ready for anything very serious as my hubby just passed away a year ago but the man attention thing gives me faith that I'm more than this cancer. Ask me anything! Love to share. Lynda

Lynda,
perhaps i'm using that acronym incorrectly. i'm have a double mastectomy, with the other side being preventive.
as for the full staging of mine, the SNB will be done at the time of surgery.
good for you with the dating. i spent 15 years in the Army so it isn't so easy to find men that can take an assertive and opinionated woman of that nature. wish i knew what the secret was to getting dates.

I am on POF and I guess because I have gained new 'wisdom', am finding that there are just not a whole lot of guys with substance on there. It's like I can read between the lines on most of these write ups and what I read is RUN! After all I've been through over the past year, the last thing I need is an insensitive or selfish or angry or defensive or narcissistive or emotionally unavailable or WHATEVER guy. I just tried to message a guy - 51 yrs old, and my message was blocked. - I'm out of his age range. I am 53! I have been on a few dates but nothing special. I am looking for someone educated too, with a degree, so that might be limiting things a bit too. And sometimes the pics.....??? I just think.....what are you thinking?????? Maybe I'm just not ready yet.
