Need Advice- What type compression sleeve do you like?
Hi there,
I've recently been diagnosed with mild lymphedema. Been doing PT for several weeks and am ready to order a compression sleeve. Been wearing the hot, fuzzy itchy one that my lymphedema therapist made in her office to provide immediate compression till we got the swelling down some..Hate it!!
What brand compression sleeve do you ladies wear and how do you like it? The medical supply co that I have to use provides Jobst (sp) and Lymphediva's brands. Anyone use these and/or have advice?

I have Jobst sleeves and gloves and gauntlets. I really like them. I have the soft and it also has a panel in for the elbow. It helps me get it up high enough as I know where the elbow goes. I don't have experience with others though. Becky

I like Jovi but my faves are Lymphedivas. I love the patterns, especially the ones that look like tattoos. I have gotten some supremely disapproving looks from people who think I'm tatted to the nines.
I figure if I'm going to have to wear it I'd rather look like a bada$$ than a medical casualty. But that's just me.
I have found though, that sometimes Lymphedivas has specific sleeves on sale because they are scratchy. So I'm careful about those....

One concern is that Jobst had wool in their "improved" sleeves a couple of years ago. It's hard to get the contents of the fabric.
I like medi and Juzo for sleeves and gloves. The medi 95--not the mediven fabric, and the Juzo strong or helastic.

I'm sorry - I should have said Juzo instead of Jovi in my post. I'm getting senile, I suppose.

I like the Juzo soft and Lymphadivas best.
I find the Juzo Varin or Helastic too heavy and just not comfortable for me.
And while I like the juzo dream sleeves and gauntlets, I find the gauntlets much too short and I always having an uncovered area at my wrist unless I keep pulling the gauntlets up or the sleeves down.
I find the Jobst gauntlets just don't last. I don't like the "fold over" over the knuckles and find the threads there unwind after se drake wearings.
As far as gloves go? The microfine Farrow gloves are an absolute dream! Total comfort and nice and thin and light yet good compression, but the sizes run large
I feel the Lymphediva sleeves and gauntlets are the most comfortable. (I only wish they made gloves out of that fabric). but even though they only come in three colors, I hope to never give up my Farrow microfine gloves--one can really live in and with them,

I just ordered a bada$$ed Lotus Dragon tattoo sleeve from lymphadiva's - Lymphadiva's are great, Jobst are soft too, but Lymphadiva's is a company with breast cancer origins....so I feel I want to support their venture.
I have their plain sleeves, but sometimes you just want to be a LittleBrit different! So to go along with my patterned sleeve with butterflies on, I have am now going the whole hog with a bada$$ed tattoo one, hubby will be horrified....
he'll get over it! -
British - you'll have to let us know what kind of reaction you get. In the summertime, when I wear the sleeve you're talking about, I get some real stares. It matches my skin tone really well and looks like an actual tattoo.
Hurrah!!! I get to be a bada$$ and not deal with needles!!!!
I'm thinking about wearing it with pearls for a Barbara Bush meets Diablo Cody look.

Thanks Ladies, this is very helpful.. I went to the medical supply place and got fitted.. I ordered a Juzo, cause it was what my therapist recommended. It looked heavy but smooth. It will take two weeks to get in so they had a couple of sample lymphediva's, So they let me take one to try and see if I like as they are considering carrying those if people like.. So I'm wearing the leopard print one and loving it.. It is very smooth and comfortable. I think I will call and order one of these as well. I've been wearing it for the last two days and it's comfortable and I don't feel like it's as noticible and medicinal looking.. LOL!! Vanity!!! But whats a girl to do?

I really like the Lymphedivas. At least if we have to wear a sleeve, we should have fun doing it! I just wish they were a little less expensive! I do order the ones without the silicone top however, because those just cause my arm to back up. Everyone is different though, so you will find what works the best for you. Lymphedivas does have sales and sometimes they have seconds that for whatever reason (usually an issue with the print was what I was told by the rep) are on sale - they are about half the price of their regular sleeves. I got one a couple months ago that is has purple and yellow feur de lis on them - which was great since I was in NOLA during the LSU game! Everyone thought I was really stylish in my support for the team (which was totally not intentional and a complete coincidence that I was in town when I was... LOL).

I have a jobst, but have only had it a few weeks. It seems to be doing a good job though. The glove is another story, but that may be more a matter of trial and error with different compressions and other variables than the fault of the glove. I had a Gottfried first. My PT ordered it because it was inexpensive and he knew I would improve quickly and not need it long. I, however, liked that and the glove as well. And they did an excellent job for me until my arm got too small for it. I only had it for about 2 months, not sure how it would hold up longer.

My first sleeve was custom made (by Gottfried), as a preventive item - for air travel, etc.
Once I actually swelled up a couple months later, I had to be refit and qualified for the Juzo soft but in the max option since my upper arm seems to be "muscular" while the wrist is small...
Wish I would fall within the Lymphediva measurements! I'm anxious to see what Solaris is inventing. They assured me via email that I would be notified when local trials of their new day garments begin this spring.

I love lymphedivas too. They are infused with aloe and I love the way they make my arm feel. I've used Juzo soft and they're really good, but not as much fun!
