Does it sound like IBC to you?
Hello brave women,
I have been worried sick that I might have IBC. Here are my symptoms.
My symptoms are swelling, pain, soreness, very warm to the touch. Today I felt like there was fire in there I think because I had bra on for most part of the day.
I got mammo and US both looked fine except for the thikening area which was not on the skin but in the breast. I see a breast surgeon on Thursday I hope he gives me a biopsy. My veins are so prominent on this infected breast. We also saw a pulsating vein in the US.
Something I forgot to mention the breast specialist was that a few days before Dec. 31 my 27 months old son who I breastfed for 12 months fell on me while I lay on my back on the floor. His hand hit my breast really hard but to be honest I don't remember which breast. The one with the problem is the left one. I remember screaming from the pain.
Deep in my heart I hope and pray that I don't have cancer just a very rough son.
What were your symptoms before you got diagnosed. I really appreciate your response.
Thanks and may God bless you. I keep you all in my prayers.
Hugs to all.

I had a purplish rash, swelling, hot, skin thickening to the point where my nipple was flattened and I couldn't get a hold of the nipple to pinch it. Does that make sense? Also, peau d'orange. Good luck to you. It may turn out to be something totally unrelated to breast cancer but it is good to get it checked out. Keep us posted.

FAITH,,
Thanks so much for your response. Would you please tell me what questions I should ask the surgeon when I see him Thursday?
Thanks again

Many ibc symptoms are orangelike dimpling, warmer and larger in size than opposite breast, usually not painful, itchy, redness (almost like a spider bite), different texture than normal breast (skin thickening). Punch biopsy would be helpful. If you have a fever, it's probably infection instead of ibc.

The thicken area not being the skin is not IBC. My scans show thickened skin.
Skin invovlement from IBC is mets from somewhere to the skin. It is the lymph system of the skin, not underlieing tissue, that produces the skin thickening.
It sounds more like clogges milk ducts or something from breast feeding. I am glad you are seeing a breast surgeon. That will put your mind at ease.

Ma111,
Thanks for your response. I so hope it is milk duck clogging. I stopped breastfeeding 14 months ago. I got my perios yesterday but my left breast is still sore and hard.

Hopefully it is just bruising from your boisterous son landing on you but the doctors can put your mind at ease. I did not have any pain before diagnosis but the nipple flattened and skin thickening could be seen around the nipple area. Good luck and keep in touch. We`re here to help if we can

Hi ladies, I was diagnosed with breast cancer June 2011. I had a lumpectomy, did 6 chemo treatments and I'm still doing herceptin untl Sept of 2012. After healing from the lumpectomy I noticed that my breast area not the nipple was red and looked like my pores were open and the nipple was flat. I didn't think too much of it because I thought this from the surgery. Now six months after the surgery it's still the same but now the area around the nipple is thick, rough, dark and that breast is much bigger than the other. I haven't talked to my surgeon/oncologist because I thought that when he looked at it he would've noticed it. But my oncologist hasn't noticed it either. I'm scheduled for a double mastectomy on the 19 of March. I have an appt with my gyn this friday for my annual. I can't say this is really nothing because my sister just got finished with chemo and they found two new nodules on her lungs so I guess it can happen while doing chemo but I pray not... I said all of that to ask does my symptoms sound like IBC?

I answered you on the other thread.
