God I need new friends!

Options

Just completed round 6 of chemo. Happy to have it over with but really in need of fun and levity. Virtually all my friends have fallen by the way side, either so busy in their own lives they can't see I am screaming for companionship, or scared by the whole cancer topic, and don't want me around to remind them of what they should be doing to prevent this happening to them. Feel so alone with only my poor struggling husband and 2 kids aged 5 and 3. Just want this whole ordeal to be over with. I am SO tired of being let down... By friends, by my body. Can anyone suggest a good place near Manassas, Va that I could meet fellow survivors who are fun, lively and uplifting. I am sick of the pitiful looks, sideways glances at school , and kid gloves! Argggggh!

I'm sorry you are feeling like this. There MUST be fellow survivors near you.

Hi,  Spitfryeto, Just a note to say hi,   I live in Southern Calif.  Guess that is not near you but on this board we are just a click away to give support. Happy that you completed round 6 of chemo. SharonH

Spitfryeto- Sorry you had to join our forum but glad you found us for support and advice or just to vent when you need too. I have seen this happen all the time with some of the ladies on here, myself included, my best friend quit calling when i was going through tx- I had decided i was not going to call her anymore, when we did get together she told me she cryed all the time, but didnt know what to do. I forgave her but dont feel the same about her as i used, but i also made some wonderful friends during my tx.

Do you have an American cancer society in your are? If so you can call them and they will help you hook up with breast cancer survivors, kind of like a sponser but you can meet and make some good friends through them. Im sorry i dont live in your are so cant help much that way.

Please come back and let us know how you are doing, we are all here for you and are Your friends here at BCO. Sending hugs and prayers

    Hugs

    Debbie

Spitfyreto, welcome to Breastcancer.org, where there are some wonderful friendships - both virtual and moving into real life!

You might try using the Search function here on the forums (link near the top right of every page). Type in Manassas as your keyword, and you'll see every time someone has used that name in a post. You could then send a Private Message to members in your area, or post on the same threads. Another way to touch base would be to start a new thread in the Get Togethers forum with your location in the title.
