Today I went to work for the first time without my wig.   I've been wearing it since March and it's a really good one. Looks just like my old hair.   I can't believe how many people had no idea about the BC.  My hair is short and really curly. I dyed it this weekend.  My daughter gave me a bobby pin with rhinestones for the bangs.   I decided it's a new year and time to move on, I'm approaching my 1 year since diagnosis.   I don't like attention but it's all good.   Another obstacle that I overcame.

Hi friends - Congrats Orland park and all who are enjoying putting our wigs in the closet, or the trash, or the donation bin! I'm with you - gave up mine a few weeks ago.  Orlandpark, I'm totally the same...hate attention.  But this is an obstacle like all others in this journey. People have been very kind.  Today I took my son to get his haircut and the stylist said - I love your hair.  I was flying high until she said...kind of looks like a mohawk.  Ummm..not exactly what I was going for :).  But I'll take it.  Just happy to be alive and have any hair.  Yay us!

Congratulations! I remember how good it felt to once again feel the wind blowing through my real hair! Ditching the wig is a milestone.

Because I was very private about my diagnosis and treatment, not everyone at work knew I was wearing a wig (it looked amazingly like my real hair). I timed my "coming out" to around my 50th birthday, and then joked about doing something drastic when I turned 50...cutting my hair or getting a tattoo. A well-placed Jedi mind trick can work wonders!

Congratulations!  It's so freeing isn't it?  A lot of people have told me I look 10 years younger with the short hair, so I'm keepin it!  Maybe not shaved short, but it was really long before.

Another milestone behind your belt!  Live large!

Congratulations on ditching the wig. I had a lovely wig, but I could hardly wait to rip it off when I got home every day!!

I hate to admit it, but lots of people have told me they think I look better with my short silver hair than I did with my long red hair. I think it goes better with my skin color and blue eyes. It took me many months to feel really good about my natural hair color, but I sure did like not having to color every 3 weeks!! And now I really like it. Looks great with silver jewelry. And I'm 51, so I like looking "distinguished"!

Congratulations! I'm also just at the beginning - after letting it shed for the past week, my hair's getting shaved tomorrow. It's great that you were able to make it into a small celebration - the bobby pin sounds great. All the best.
