There have been several disagreements here regarding whether or not there is a "conspiracy" going on within our governments decision making regarding the way the health care industry (especially cancer) is approached.  I don't believe in the "conspiracy theory but there is definitely enough corruption within the industry to severely alter the way this industry and our care is being handled.  Check out this video.  It's an interview on 60 minutes with former lobbyist Jack Abramoff where he describes "owning politicians".

Here's more...

This is from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.  At the 11:22 mark in the video, they say that in the cancer industry, 60-70% of doctors income is based on kickbacks from pharmaceuticals. "It's astounding how little money it takes to sell out a patient."

Pharma companies are now required to publish doctor payment figures.  In 2009 alone, it was to the tune of $200 million.

I post this because we need to wake up to what's going on around us.  Don't blindly put your trust in the industry.  Everyone isn't involved in corruption but it is certainly far-reaching and affects every one of us.  We all need to be aware of what goes on especially when it comes to cancer and our health.  Dont take anything at face value.  Be your own advocate.  Our lives depend on it.

Absolutely.  Lobbyists create this problem for us consumers. We have to be our own watchdogs, because the agencies set in place to protect us do not govern with the populace in mind. Think FDA, EPA, etc..... their standards are becoming looser and looser, and it's all due to corruption and laissez faire attitude within those governing bodies.
