herceptin resistance

I have read about some breast cancers being resistant to herceptin. Is there a test to determine if herceptin will work for you, or do doctors just wait & see what happens?

    Hi, there is no test,(at least I don't know of any) that can determine  if Herceptin will work for you. I think you will hear people talk about cancer being resistant to Herceptin if they have a recurrance while they are on Herceptin.  Even then, Herceptin might still be beneficial, but may need to be combined with chemo or another treatment(such as tykerb)
