Hi All,

I had a recurrence in November.  Nodule removed and CT scans confirm no spread (halleluia!).

Oncologist has stopped Herceptin (apparantly it didnt work, I beleive it stopped the spread!) and no systemic tereatment given there is nothing to measure.

I am now considering radiotherapy to the same area - to prevent spread.  I am not sure!!!

Portacath has been kept kin place 'just in case' it comes back.

I am soooo not up for the just in case!

I am looking for anyone who has been in a similar situation and hopoing for more reassurance.

Wishing you all a joyous Christmas and the most magnificent New year xo

    Hi,

My recurrence (mets to neck lymph node) is five years later than my first dx. So, my onc thinks Herceptin & Abraxane that I used last time would still be good for me. Although I have 2 clear PET/CT already and NED for 8 months, but I am still on weekly treatment. He thinks my ER-/PR-/HER2+++ and grade 3 is a more aggressive one. Longer treatment might have a better control in the future. Since I am young (44, well my kids probably won't agree) and no other health conditions, he thinks I will be able to tolerate a more aggressive treatment plan.

For your info. only.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I was dx with IDC and DCIS in 4/08. Grade 3, ER-PR-HER2+. I had lumpectomy, axillary node dissection-- 2/8 malignant, AC x 4, 12 weekly Taxol with concurrent Herceptin and then just continued on Herceptin supposedly for a year.  Then while still on Herceptin and in the midst of 30 rads tx, was diagnosed with IBC.  Referred to MD Anderson Cancer Center.  They stopped the Herceptin (I had been on it for 9 months by then) and switched me to Tykerb and Xeloda.  Took both for 6 months.  Stopped Xeloda and had a uni-mx in Feb. 2010 and another node dissection.  Pathology showed NED.  Still NED.  I am still on Tykerb -- have been since July 2009.

Don't lose hope.  There are other drugs out there.  Herceptin didn't work for me, either, but Tykerb and Xeloda kicked my cancer's butt!

I also surrender to God and the Angels and choose PEACE! (Love your tag line!)

    Merry Christmas and good luck!

Just wanted to say hi and wish you the best. I am about to post the message below as soon as I figure out how :)

Hi all - looking for anyone who also is (was) premonpausal, her2 positive, estrogen negative, stage 3b with nuclear grade 3. I am on a clinical trial of Taxol and Herceptin every week for 12 weeks and then A/C every 3 weeks for 4 cycles. I've only had 2 treatments and my 6cm mass certainly doesn't feel like it is shrinking (yes, I was hoping it would be gone after 2 chemo's :)

Any thoughts, advice or just good stories would be appreciated. I am 43.

    Christy
