CT showed 4mm liver nodule

I had a bone scan this week for rib pain (negative!) and my routine chest CT scan, which my onc said looks good, except there was one 4mm nodule on my liver, and he wants another CT next week to get a closer look. He said he's not particularly worried, just being cautious, and he feels like it's benign. Of course, I get to spend Christmas weekend with this over my head. 

Anyone had something similar that didn't turn out to be metastases? Or that did? CAN a CT scan actually tell whether a nodule is benign or malignant?
