Any babies after TN treatment? pregnant and confused
Hey everyone,
So, I was diagnosed on sept. 11, 2009 with stage 2a triple neg grade 3, 1+ lymphnode at the age of 31. I had a bilateral mast w/ recon and then AC+T for 4 months, 33 rads. I have 2 little girls and a wonderful husband. Before I was diagnosed, we had been discussing the idea of a 3rd child....obviously, that flew out the window on sept 11!(easy date to remember huh?). We just recently found out that I am pregnant and I am having a very hard time deciding what to do. I really want to keep it, but not at the expense of my health. I have 2 beautiful children and don't want to push my luck, but i also don't want to live my life constantly making decisions because of the fear of stupid cancer. My oncologist said that it is a risk because they dont really know a lot about the effects of pregnancy on breast cancer reccurance. I seem to find articles saying two different things on the subject, which makes it even harder! My ob-gyn said there isn't a reason why I shouldn't have it, because we deal with risks everytime we walk out our door(granted, us cancer survivors have a lot of "risks" on our plates). So, basically I am looking for any TN's that have had babies after treatment? Part of me thinks this "accident" was suppose to be and that i should just go with it....I noticed another thread about this, but it was old and tried to message one of the girls, but i don't think she is on here any more. Any stories, good or bad would be greatly appreciated! xoxo

A friend had triple negative stage 2 with multi focal. She had a child just two years ago. Doing great. She now is five years in remission

I was diagnosed in April with TN, I'm 41, without children, had always hoped but it never happened. I see no reason why you shouldn't have this baby. I think your right, It was supposed to be and it is truly a blessing.

I have a friend who was disgnosed with TNBC, took 4 rounds of Taxol and 4 rounds of A/C, then moved on to 36 rounds of radiation. She was 38 years old. She is now 44 with a beautiful baby girl who just celebrated her first birthday. Hope this helps.

I was done having children when I was diagnosed but a friend of mine had TNBC at 29 years old (10 years ago) and has since gone on to have two beautiful children.

My daughter is going through a pregnancy right now, she is also having chemo at the same time.
They wanted here to make this hard dicision at the beginning, but she really wanted to add to her family and decided to have baby. they monitor the baby constantly, and so far so good. their has been many successful pregnancies while undergoing treatment. They have changed the way they are giving the drugs, saving one for after the baby is born. But this is an individual decision , all the best.

BC can rob us of so much, I hate to think it would change your plans to have another child. It is such a personal decision, and you have to make hard choices without much info. I have a friend who was diagnosed in her early 30s, while she was trying to get pregnant. Obviously that was put on hold during her treatment. Her onc advised her to wait 5 years after treatment to try again....not sure why...but that's what she did. She had a beautiful, healthy baby. Unfortunately, she did have a reoccurence about 18 months later. But she was ER+, so possibly the pregnancy hormones had something to do with it. It could be different for us TNs, since our cancers aren't fueled by hormones. In any case, that was 15 years ago, she is fine, and she has never regretted her decision. I wish you all the best with whatever you decide.

I have no idea on the subject but sending you a hug.

Wondering how your doing and what you decided to do. I was dx with TNBC in 2012 and complete all treatment in 2013. I am now 7 months pregnant and expecting my 3rd child in July. I also cant find much out there for TNBC and pregnancy but I dont dwell to much with my past cancer as it is now in the past. I look beyond that as it seems that it came and went like a short illness. I hope to be around for my husband and children.....

I was diagnosed with triple negative bc while I was pregnant in 2011 , I am now going on my third year, and had another baby a year ago. It is possible , and my girl and boy are perfectly healthy. -
I had a baby after treatment for TN in 2005 (which I was diagnosed 3 months after the birth of my first baby!). She was born perfectly healthy in 2007 and is now 7 years old and a joy to be around (my older is 9). I had read a study somewhere on this website that talked about pregnancy after cancer as having some protective benefits to you. I will see if I can find it. I wouldn't change a thing with having her. She is a joy and a light in my life.

PS - Who is your oncologist?! I would personally find a new one... just saying...

Okay... so I am only now just realizing that the original post was from 2011! Ha!
I hope she is doing well!
