My neck, My mouth, help me please
I had developed a very sore throat, and cold a week till now. I took some medication, and I am feeling better but still the cold is there and very slight sore throat.
I had observed that I have a lymph node in theback side of my neck..the Dr said its related to infection of the cold and sore throat. I want to ask, as the much I read the much I get confused:
How do I know if the lymmph is enlarged. Isn't it normal that you feel your lymph or does that mean there is an infection?
Do lymph node have a size for which if gone bigger we should be conserned?
Also I have a small bump inside my cheek, which I bit earlier this week, and then saw the bump (cheek bite) yet how can I tell if it is a canker sore, or something else.
Last point, is it common that breast cancer spreads to the neck or mouth

Polyanna- If you have an infection in your body the lymph nodes will trap the infection or virus and will get larger. You may have a cold sore because as you said you have been sick and not feeling well. Breast can spread other places but im pretty sure it will go to other organs like the liver and can go to the neck.
All that being said, there could be somthing going on besides a flu or viral infection so i would call your MO on monday and get checked out just to be sure and to calm your nerves. I think we all get scared and nervous when we have things going on in our bodys now and we wonder if its cancer, i think its normal to feel that way, i know i have too. Im no doctor but if you dont get better by the weekend and your nodes get to large maybe you could go to the ER depending on if you feel you cant wait until monday. Sending best wishes for you and hope it is nothing serious

Polyana, I agree with Debbie about the lymph nodes. You have a cold or a viral infection, your lymph nodes would respond, that means they are doing their job. Your immune system has taken a pretty big hit this year, so take it easy. I get all kinds of mouth sores and they seem to have gotten worse since BC. I rinse with Biotine mouthwash, that seems to help. seems citrus and I don't get along anymore!! Lots of things can irritate your mouth, try being careful what you eat. And don't worry--as much--sometimes, we BCers just get sick! ((((((Big hugs)))))))))

this sounds a bit silly, but a 1/2 teaspoon or even less of coconut oil sure makes the inside of your mouth and throat feel better.
best of luck
