edited June 2014 in Stage I Breast Cancer

I had my lumpectomy in June and finished my radiation in September. I was lucky to not have much pain and healed up nicely. It was a low grade IDC less than 2 cm. Now i have developed a large lump at the nipple surgical site and have alot of dull pain in the whole breast. Is this normal? Its very worrisome to find any lumps and the pain is a new thing...I also have some nerve pain in my back on the same side. The Dr said the nerves were damaged during radiation...but it wasnt any where near the radiated site...any thoughts?  advice?

Have you seen a doctor about this new development? It may be scar tissue, edema, pain from med but best to get it checked by your BS for peace of mind. That is what I would do.

    Hoping the best for you.

My RO said that patients can have nerve issues (tingling? sometimes shooting pain?) at the beginning of rads and when recovering (as the nerves heal again). And that the breast tissue will change due to rads, so it's possible the lump is the scar tissue or something else. But if it were me, I'll call and have them check it out to get peace of mind.
