Today I made 2 loaves of zucchini bread and a banana cake from scratch. I had a zucchini the sizable of a baseball bat. I decided to grate it and freeze it. My sons don't like zucchini bread so I call it sweet bread. I am going to freeze the second one for later.
My father's neighbor gave my 2 different pumpkin squashes for pumpkin pie. I can't wait to make them but I think I already tired myself out. I ended up taking a two hour nap. I used to love to bake and did it all the time.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. -
Hey ladies hope everyone had a good weekend. Was rainy here and i was working so not too exciting here. Out of curiousity does anyone know why i cant find the bonfire thread anymore? Seems to have just disappeared.

Love, mostlymom - I understand the feeling....

LOL Gail. Now that would be sah weet -- (tall, handsome, rich, and keep birds). hehehehe
I loved your description of the mountains and the clouds. Very beautiful. I'm OK with Fall . . . as long as I don't think about Winter. I am NOT ok with Winter. However, that is only one season out of four, so that's doing pretty well I think.

Hellllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!
Even though I was occupied this weekend...I thought of each of you every day. It was a great weekend. Friday night I went to bed with a full house. The girls were home and in their beds. It was wonderful. We ate homemade meals all weekend. We watched a few shows (Impractical Jokers). We talked and laughed. It was just incredible. Then today came and they had to go back to school. Last night, those curious little ladies found the puppys shock collar. They were messing around with it and asking me questions....they joked around a while about holding onto it...then each one grabbed a prong and...pressed the button...AND THEY BOTH SCREAMED!!! Same exact pitch and length too! I was so scared at first - like my heart stopped! Then...I laughed and laughed and I am still laughing about it!! Oh dang that was funny...
GG - Yes. DH is a builder. I would love to know about your dream house! How many bathrooms and where? Does it have a library? What does the landscaping look like? We will build again in the future ... we have a piece of land to set it on too. The next one will be a little smaller and more functional for us. Right now, we barely go into the lower level. He did such a wonderful job on this house and the land it's on is the last of its kind. Our livingroom has 8 walls and its sunken by 7 steps. When you sit in the living room, every window shows the canopy of trees that are in the back yard. There's a nature trail lined with Tiki Torches that goes to the "fire pit" - or my little vacation spot. The sun rises in the front of the house and sets on the back of the house. No one can build on one side and in the back and I love my next door neighbors...he did a really great job. It looks like something you would see in Arizona or Cali with Stucco.
The Job thing....oh ladies I hear ya. General Motors closed down here a few years ago and took thousands of jobs/small businesses with it. Our unemployment rate is still very, very high.
Nancy...First - you can scoot your boot to Wisconsin ANYTIME! It's chilly here, then a little warm...then chilly again. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year here. Nice in the day, chillly at night. SKK is welcome here as well! Not sure how well SKK gets along with others, but I have two kitties and a pooch...fish....and then we feed all the wild critters too! I'd hook ya up. Second..and I will apologize first...I barely have an edit button...but when work sucks, it's draining. And, when it sucks for all the wrong reasons (like the boss is an ass, or there's unfair working conditions, etc etc) it's not only draining...it becomes a real issue. Remember who you are - and don't let anyone suck that outta ya...you are a good soul.
Essaaa - Oh maaaaaan. I can actually see the driving and your reactions! LOL I don't know how you got through it!
Veggy - I'll take two of each honey. Homemade bread makes my mouth water when I think of it!
I have a quiet week ahead of me. So....I'll really need ya all's stories!!!

essa - sas is on a cruise.

Last Friday DD was fired from a job she was killing herself trying to do. Interestingly enough, her blood sugar went from 380 to 107. She says every time she feels depressed, she takes her blood sugar. She does a little work with a tennis club and loves it.

Dr appt today saw a differrnt MO cause mine was away. I get the feeling she doesnt think the tamoxifen is working, but she couldnt say for sure as she hasnt seen me before. Has me kinda worried tho

It took breast cancer and a jerk of a boss to make me finally quit my job. I should have done it years, many years, ago. I did try for a while, but I only got a few interviews and then nothing after that. I often wondered if my boss was giving me a bad recommendation because I did tell potential employers they could contact him. Who else could I get to give me a recommendation when that was the only place I have worked since 1986. I still have to give him as a reference, but now he doesn't have to worry about losing me since I'm already gone. Anyway, I wouldn't doubt that the stress from all those years being unhappy there contributed to the cancer. So, Wren, it's good that your daughter got out of that job.
I have a mosquito bite on my right arm (the mastectomy side). It keeps swelling up. Pray it isn't lymphedema. Coincidentally, my breast cancer support group meets this Wednesday evening, and they are having a lymphedema specialist talk to us. I will be taking advantage of that opportunity.
I had an enclosed porch built onto the front of my house. It was really my smoking room. Anyway, when I open the living room window, the curtains blow out over the sofa -- even though all the windows on the porch are closed. Amazing! So I finally caulked all around the windows. Still the wind pours in. I got the ladder out of the shed and put it in there. I'm going to find where that wind is coming in. That just ain't right! LOL Fuzzy, I think I need to borrow your hubby. ;>)
I'm glad you had such a great weekend with your daughters.
-
Ridergirl, what makes the MO think Tamoxifen isn't working? Worried for you ...
Vicky
-
Rider: I second Mama...how exactly would they know that Tam isn't working? Interesting....
Dunes: DH is the best builder around here...he built our deck moments after jotting down a picture on a napkin. His brain just goes like that. I can't even hang pictures straight! That work thang sounded wicked. No one should have to tolerate that kind of environment.
My BIL (rest in peace my dear friend) passed at 45 yrs old. Beautiful man (his exceptionally long funeral and hundreds of people from all over showed how many people he selflessly touched) came after 21 years at an employer that really treated him horribly. The place shut down and he was depressed as he was the only money maker. He got a job in a correctional facility and fell in love with it - making half the pay. But, he was so happy. What a difference a job will make. So, his unexpected death at such a young age followed too many years of abuse and that really isn't the way anyone should live.
Nancy: I have a 22 lb Kitty....lots o belly on that boy!! He's always been big and he's 16 years old. Sounds like he's really becoming a comfortable and content house Kitty. Yes, they sleep a lot! Usually awake more at night....
You should see FatBoys (my 22 pounder ) feet!!! LOL they look so tiny compared to his body!! LOL -
Nancy, You might have to switch foods. They make some for less active cats. As for the sleeping, yes they do that especially during hot weather. Will he chase a feather toy? We're doing twice a day chases with our foster cat to keep his weight down.

Is anyone else experiencing LONG waits for postings? I've noticed a number of double posts and am wondering if people are hitting enter twice in frustration. I don't know how to reach the mods to ask.
-
Wren I have noticed that too. I know I had a double post for just that reason.
-
Mine is double posting a lot too...and I only hit it once.
-
I am experiencing some long wait times but it happened right after I installed the Ghostery add-on. I figured maybe that was doing it. For those who use Firefox and don't like being tracked, the Ghostery add-on is really cool. It's amazing how many people are following me around. For this site, right now, there are 3, but Ghostery is blocking them.

I have my 2nd MO followup next month. I made the appointment for the lab work to be done this Friday. I noticed one of the tests starts with CA. I guess it must be some sort of cancer marker. Now I understand why most everyone gets nervous about the oncology followups . . . and for those who do mammograms, why they would make you nervous as well. Mine will be ultrasounds. Maybe she will order one. I dunno. What usually happens at your 6-7 month follow-up? I hope she doesn't give me more grief about refusing the kind of treatment she offers. Oh my. I think I will forget about it for now.
I got mail today from social services. They want a lot more information, and they want it before October 1st or they will deny me. They want things like picture ID, passport (in lieu of birth certificate which I cannot currently find), lots of bank information, power company information. phone information. I'm sure not sending them my passport. It seems to me they should be scheduling an appointment for me to come in and produce these documents. They did not return my call today. I will try them again tomorrow. Meanwhile I have everything together except my verizon stuff. I forgot that. This is for the energy assistance. Still no word on the food stamps. I love how they can take their good old time about going through your documents. I mean, apparently I was missing a lot. It should not have taken them over a month to decide that. However, when it comes my turn, I have a couple of days to get the stuff in. I sure am learning about being poor and needing assistance.
School was good today. I kept up pretty well, and we even learned some new stuff.
I need to get to sleep early tonight. It's an early day tomorrow. I'm going to court to see what happens to all these people we turn in for their rat harborages and their refusal to follow rat control policies (like putting lids on trash cans). It should be interesting.

Nancy, That toy is our foster cat's favorite. DH bought a ball with feathers that chirped like a bird. Our cat was terrified of it until he accidentally stepped on it and broke the chirper. Then she loved it. Twelve pounds is not really overweight, especially if he's long and tall. So maybe you're catching it early.

Thanks for everyone that tried to find this pic for me! It is now found!!!
What I want to say to each and every single one of you kind ladies who have the ridiculous misfortune of being dragged thru the cowfields of cancer, is that despite being in constant danger, and each of our very best abilities being taken away, that we all still have SOMEthing left we can do well enough. I used to be a writer, but half my mind is gone, so no more. But I also used to draw and paint a little but not particularly well, but did dearly love it, and so my message to all of you is, if there's something you love doing, whenever you get all life's buuuuuushit arranged enough to where you can get out of bed and walk a full block, then be sure to make a little time to do this one thing you like to do, because my dear ones, while our lives are SO tiresome and different, therefore le this be a chance and all the more reason why we so much need to create and receive the beauty of life, too.
I was going to use quiet languid language and be so soothing with my words, but more than that I wanted to get this picture up, because I knew you guys would feel SO good looking at it, before I went and deleted all this in a fit of self-doubt. Oh, my best angels of my life, gather the stars while you may, choose the soft bunnies and baby snow seals and polar cubs as your friends, set yourself directly under the North Star, and may the twinkle in every evening star belong to you forever. I love you almost as much as my dog, but we pup owners know nothing comes before them. But always, dream a dream, for we all gotta have some dreams to remember. GG

Thanks dogeyed. Lovely picture.

ridergirl, sorry you have more to go through. Best of luck.
-
Rider....well, I suppose it's a good thing they are watching to find out the Tam wasn't doing what it needs to and you can move onto something more aggressive. We're here for you. Must be so damn frustrating. Is there a reason they are not sure which way to go? Chemo or Rads? They're very different treatments so, I guess I'm curious how they'll chose...
GG...you will always be my favorite writer. You're words come right from your heart. I could read your words all day long, sister! I love that pic. I'm glad you found it again...someone a page or so back found the page it was posted on before. Is that where you found it? My brain is blurred...some days worst than others...does that make sense? I am really enjoying the journey you are on. You are seeing things in a much better light and you seem very connected to everything around you. It's wonderful. I love it. Keep posting your positive and inspiring message. It's music to my ears (and my ears seem to be connected to my soul). Love you sweetie.
Nancy - Oh FayBoy thinks he's a tough guy too. He's one of those kitties who "love bite". But...he'll also grab hold of your hand with both paws and snap your hand into his mouth and clamp down. He's so funny. I love his personality. The other kitty is about 7 pounds - she's just a sweetheart. Her and Fatty are best friends. Then there's the pup...he "play fights" like a cat. It's hysterical. He'll actually "paw" at the cats, just like they would do. He's playing, but the cat's want to beat the crap out of him!
So...I have an appt with my PS to discuss reconstruction. My idea is to have the right breast removed and a TE placed...then reconstruct both at the same time at a later date. Since I wouldn't have to wait for radiation damage to heal, I would think the turnaround time wouldn't be so bad. Then maybe I can just have the drains on one side....heal....let the boob failry visit...heal...
The season finale of Honey Boo Boo is on!!!! Oh I hope it's a good one....
-
ridergirl - let us know how things go Tuesday. We are here to help!
GG - I can't see the picture??? Will have to try another computer maybe?
Fuzzy - good luck with your PS appt. I Love Honey Boo Boo too!

MAMA VALENTINE, one thing that sometimes works is to right-click on the little red X. A menu comes out and you choose "See Picture," and usually there's a pause and it will come up. If not, then you can sometimes wait for a few pages of posts, and then come back here, and it sometimes will be there. Only other solution I'm aware of is to go right where it was the first time, which is I think page 32 or 31. And yes, the pic I was referred to is what led me further back into this Romp Room to find it.
VEGGY, husband got into aking bread a few years back, asked me if I wanted him to go at it again wehn I go so sick. There is NOTHING like the feeling of GOOD when you eat fresh bread He used a machine for all or part of the process.
LOVESSA, that night-goggle, snooggy fur-gurrrr was SO hilarious, I could just see your wide eyes with your wreck-inclined daughter delivering papers.
FUZZARINA, loved hearing how your puppy plays with the cats like a cat... he's got them beat at their own game! And oh gosh, my dream house. The first one put the LR, DR and KIT all in the front, using heat-absorbing rock or brick, skylights, to keep house warm in winter, all the rest of the stuff in the back. But NOW, my SECOND house from my vision, it's more like a colonial with big front entry lobby and stairs to one side and back kitchen doors visible on the other side, and a catwalk across the whole thing. But this is the good part. The house has got a drive on the left side, with carport and big six- or eight-footer wooden fence with a big latch, and then going inside is where I saw my vision.
The room is partly red. You come in the side way where the parking is, and to the back is the kitchen, but to the front is the living room situation with my vision. It all focuses on a walk-in fireplace, back-to-back to the kitchen, fireplace has rock lining, with old-time colonial wide boards around it, and just to the right of the fireplace wall is the vision, a red wall with a very small "disappearing" door for a narrow staircase that cirves amd goes up to a loft type area, a writing/art place for me, and another stair back down to the kitchen.
Also in the living is a baby grand near the big windows, with bookcases around both sides of windowseat, and a fabulous area rug and interesting chandelier in the middle. The big farm table goes in the kitchen first thing. In front of the fireplace is where everyone sits, great big cpmfy throws ad pillows old couch, couple easy chairs, Richard's recliner, a place for the dog and his toys, and a great big large-planked board coffee table to put feet on. It's that red wall with the secret stair that I've buil the whole thing around it.
Ladies, I used tp write a lo of interestng and amazing stiff. bit ot took me amost twp hours to just to do this little bit. I had the mouse upside down and it wouldn' t work. I just wamt tp push somo pait aound and show you ho i do - anogthe time Im gnel G

GG- what a beautiful place! Thank you for taking the time to show it! I'm not very creative that way...my DH is in charge of designing. I've told him what I must have (walk in closets, a nice big yard, a big deck) and off he goes. As it turns out, I'm an ok landscaper. And, I do it on a dime. I plant little plants rather than having the "instant full grown" look like my neighbors have. I can watch them grow and rearrange them all I want. We have an old river bed that runs thru the front yard where the farmer use to dump huge rocks. I dug out those rocks and landscaped around them....there was no way I'd be able to move them.
-
So....tomorrow night I'm meeting a few sisters from Wi. I'm pretty excited about That! I wish all of you could be there too...Madison would never be the same...LOL
-
GG - beautiful, I can see why you were looking for it.
Dunes - if you know how to get rid of TEXT - enhance on Firefox, please pm me.
Been gone a few days, I had to login for once and who knows how to do that? or even remember their login?
Thought there would be pages to read, three days, but Fuzzy's has gone quiet again.
Anyway,
We went to the farm for some eggs and produce. I was waiting in truck w dog.... just looking at the gardens and barn and all their chickens free-ranging. Now I learned a few years back tha a chicken does not need a rooster in order to lay an egg. So I started wondering if their chickens and the two roosters ever do it, you know. A minute later this red rooster starts running across the wide yard....... where is he going? coyote after him? time to go in for night? And he jumps on this blonde chicken and goes to town for a whole two seconds. Then she told him off and they started eating again. So that answered that question.
See ya later then.
LOVEEssa
oh and MM hope your DD next job keeps her blood sugar as low. Stress will do it.
