I was diagnosed with a good amount of DCIS with IDC .3 cm (3 mm) ER+/PR+ HER2+ in December of 2006.  To make a long story short.... I ended up with bilateral mastectomies.  Sentinel node negative.

Due to the tumor size, no treatment was recommended.  Since I had bilat mastectomies even hormone treatmen was recommended since added benefit was small.

Jump ahead 5 years.  My oncologist is getting out of solo practice and moving several states away.  I am now seeing a new oncologist.

She was surpised I wasn't put on hormone therapy and herceptin.  Even now after 5 years, she wants me to start on hormones now so I'll be starting Tamoxifen as soon as the prescription arrives.  She wants me on Tamoxifen for 2-3 years and then on Femara.  She didn't recommend herceptin this far into the game.

My former oncologist did do yearly scans... CT of chest/abdomen/pelvis and bone scan and as of last one which was done last year... no evidence of disease.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

 Thanks!
