Oh S****T

I am having pains in my arm pit BC side. It hurts when I reach for something or stretch. This area has felt odd on and off for a few months. I have just recently began to sweat under the arms. I lost all feeling and no hair or sweating since surgery. What is weird is that I had a bmx  and haven't felt anything  under both arms since surgery Sept 09. I had 8 rounds of chemo- bmx and 1 year Herceptin --What could be going on? Concerned to say the least--What would you do?

Have you called the doctor?? Sounds like it could be nerve issues and maybe swelling. How many nodes did you have taken?

Five nodes could be enough to be causing lymphedema... I too would be concerned and call the doctor, but there are so many reasons for your symptons.. I remember asking my doctor, both after lumpectomy and after MX, why my pits smelled SO bad.. Neither doctor had heard of that. I think it had to do with the lymph system... and it finally went away. I think when the nodal area swells, some weird things can happen,

It sounds like you may be getting axillary cording.  Feel under your armpit and up your arm and see if you feel a tight "cord."  If so, this can be alleviated/cured by a physical therapist who is experienced in lymphedema treatments.  I had that happen not too long ago, where if I tried to reach up high for something on a shelf, it hurt really bad.  The PT's know what to do.

It could simply be that your feeling is coming back to that area! You never realized before what you were feeling as the area has been numb. I agree with the LE posts, make sure you get seriously checked and don't let your doctor pooh-pooh you!!! THEY don't know enough about it!!!

I am 3 years out and still get a painful tug if I reach a certain way.

I'm 3.5 years out at regularly get painful tugs.  I stretch, do Yoga and giggle to myself as I do a pose that is supposwed to be stretching my lower back.....but it hurts in my armpit.  I've had it checked (NED) and swear by my physio and my massage therapist.  Who would have thought that I would have women (wonderful women) digging into my armpits regularly to alleviate my discomfort.

Life has certainly changed. Just make sure you do the stretches.  My body rebels when I don't get to yoga class or do the stretches. I will tighten right up.
