Oh No...Mr. Bill got his hand smashed and I started crying
OK, no pun intended my husband thinks I am nuts.
There is a pistachio commercial where Mr. Bill, (a Play-doh figure from vintage SNL) gets his hand smashed by a nut cracker.
I started BAWLING...seeing the little hand smashed.
I just spend so much time protecting my hand, it wasn't funny.

Cookie, I'm so sorry.
Are you on tamox. or something like it? That stuff made me nuts. I mean, more nuttier than I am now. I am currently in the middle of surgery induced menopause and am less crazy than I was on tamoxifen. Go figure.
Hang in there, girl. Mr. Bill is a cutie pie and does not deserve a smashed hand, and neither do you. And it's strange how things like that make us sad...I had a similar experience not too long ago. I figure if I go a little 'mental' that's okay...bc will do that to a girl.
Sending hugs and brownies!

Cookie -- aw, Cookie
, I sure hear you, and I can just feel the little guy's pain (and the awful LE flare that will undoubtedly follow
) I just hope a good cry helped, as it sometimes does. I will NEVER eat those stupid pistachios!
Healiing hugs,

Doesn't Mr. Bill scream "Oh nooooo!!"
Yet, he's going to get hurt, just the same. I'd cry too if I saw it (and yep Suzy, I blame the tamoxifen....)

Yep, I blame everything on the tamoxifen. Except I keep losing weight on it so I am not going to complain too much. It does bring me down at times though.
I cry at anything sad these days. So I don't want to see Mr. Bill. Becky

Laughed when I saw this topic - I smashed my left, non-LE hand for real last Friday - I have abroken finger that's now in the cutest little hard plaster cast you ever saw. The sad thing is that when I did it, the first thing out of my mouth (after the string of bad words, of course) was, "Thank heavens it wasn't on the right side." Not, oh I think I broke it or oh, I wonder if it's OK, or oh, I wonder how badly it's injured - nope - my first thought was of LE and a profound feeling of thankfulness that it was on the non-LE side. There's just something wrong with that!!
-
Mary, what's even more wrong is when you fall, and realize you broke the LE side! I couldn't believe it when it happened--and I was sick from the pain. And the second my outstretched hand hit the concrete, I knew it was bad.(It's called a FOOSH fracture: fall on an out-stretched hand.)
I remember sitting in bed--I couldn't get to an urgent visit for an xray as I did it later in the evening and Obama was in town, and the streets/highways were gridlocked--just sobbing.
Now with your good hand in the cutest little cast, just be careful not to overdo things with the LE side.
Yeah, it's an alternate reality we live....
Feel better, and to paraphrase Mr. Bill "oh, noooooooo"

Kira - absolutely I was remembering your whole experience with your broken hand - I knew the implications of an injury like that to the LE side. As much of a PITA as this is, I am so grateful that it was my non-LE hand.
Mine wasn't as exciting as a fall - quite the reverse - I was trying to stand up. We'd been hiking and stopped to rest - I was sitting on a low rock, and as I struggled to my feet (thank you Femara) I put my hand down to brace myself against the rock, and my water bottle came out of the backpack and smashed down on the finger - my finger was quite literally between a rock and a hard place!
-
Well I'm impressed you're hiking! And staying hydrated, even if the water bottle was a weapon...
I've had the week off and did absolutely nothing, but did see my LE therapist and reminisced how I was still in the cast last year this time, and how totally gross my hand was when it came off--the skin was disgusting, it was swollen and so weak.
I have a picture of my cast--and just why do I have that??? But I'll share it--my students asked if they could sign it, and I told them it wasn't a "happy cast"
Hard to see, but my hand was so bruised, it was color coordinated with the cast.
Feel better. And keep inspiring us with hiking.
