Weesa, thanks for sharing this amazing story. I would love to make the next annual slouchfest. Like you, I am not a fan on Pinktober either. This disease is deadly serious and I have lost too many friends to BC. I had tried to live a reasonably healthy lifestyle but the stress of things since diagnosis has turned me into a closet sloucher. When I socialize publicly with people who know of my diagnosis, I do not have an adult beverage, I sit in the kiddy korner with my seltzer water or iced tea.So what is this theme song? This is too fun!

And how fab is it that Celtic came to your Slouchfest, yes? I want to be sure I have this right - she came from CA to NC for this event, yes? Amazing. I have not been here long but love the way the ladies seem to click with one another.

Claire, are you serious that your bike club rides until your butt freezes off?  Crap, I am too wimpy to ride when it is under 20 degrees unless the sun is warm. I go to the gym and get my ride on.  Freezing my butt off does not sound fun to me but I am a weakling. Biking, bakeries and microbreweries sound fun but are you serious? Have never heard of such a thing. I guess this explains the guys in tutus, I am still baffled over that one lol.

I am going to virtually step into Weesa's bar and have the bar tender, make that "slouch-tender" (haha) whip up a pitcher for me. 1/2 vodka, 1/2 iced tea and I am set. I will share a glass if someone likes what I am haviing lol! Might as well add a huge platter of deep fried mozzarella sticks, greasy fries.then finish of with a cheese cake with strawberries. Then another pitcher of my favorite slouching drink. What a nice group of ladies you are.  I am a stage1 gal but have two dear friends who are stage IV so I can relate. Can I come and join you, please, with sugar on top???

Erin, Of course! I will expect you next October. Maybe if we start planning sooner next year, it will happen. Yes, Celtic got the prize for the greatest distance travelled.

There will be a pitcher of half vodka and half iced tea, along with lots of fried food.No fresh food, anti-oxidants or fiber served.

I realize that ths suspense was killing everyone.  Here was the group saddling up on Saturday.

Here are two pictures from Sunday's frosty ride. Was about 28 degrees warming up to the high 30s.

    And the bald eagle.

Hi Claire, Oh they look so cute.  Sure is pretty up that way. Not sure that I would enjoy going out when it is 20 degrees. I have enough trouble when it gets down to the 50s, Love that bald eagle.  SharonH

Erin, I am busy preparing about twenty dishes for a crowd at my house, but am sipping spiked egg nog the whole time so I think that qualifies as slouching. Can't believe how much work there is to a Thanksgiving dinner, plus cleaning the house and setting the table.

Was out "slouching" at the wine bar.  Great fun.  Have elk sausage which I need to make for dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  BTW - if you are still working on prep at this late hour, you aren't slouching enough.

Sleeping/slouching in this AM.  However, will go do a ride as body appears to be in hibernation mode and not raining this AM.  Then making a simple Thanksgiving meal for myself.

    Happy, happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Okay, now I need someone to post about a study that finds that stuffing yourself with Thanksgiving vittles kills cancer cells. Anyone...?

Celtic, I wish I could post that study I read earlier this month about over eating being beneficial but could not find it....too much slouching today.

Claire, I had to see it to believe it, the tutus are tooooo cute. I take your gang was slouching before that ride. Is that you laughing on the left of the photo? Very pretty pictures.

Sharon, I hope you are slouching now, I have been slouching since 4pm, crashed out after dinner and now awake and slouching some more.

Weesa. I hope your turkey day was easy, you sure take on a large crowd. You are brave, I could never do that.

Hope you wonderful girls had a super fantastic day and were surrounded by love. If not, it is not too late to find a hot man tonight, wishing you all the best of health and happiness as we enter this Holiday Season...of drinking/slouching. I am making another pitcher now Tongue out What are you all drinking?

Celtic, I will wait impatiently for this study to come out, and I have faith you will be the first one to pick up on it.

What I do know for sure is that preparing the vittles can damn near kill you. Four trips to the grocery store, hauling everything out of the car and putting it up. Then hauling it back out. I started five days ago when I brined the turkey. The stuffing--had to brown the italian sausage, onion, celery that went into it, Mashed the potatoes, mashed the sweet potatoes, cut up the leeks and found them full of sand in all those little layers, made a bernaise sauce with more butter than I usually eat in a year, made several hors d'oeuvres, made some fruitcakes for Christmas that you have to keep around for while so they can age.

Made desserts. Burned my lymphedema hand real bad taking the damned turkey out of the oven. Have a mound of dishes left for tomorrow. It took the fellows fifteen minutes to eat the food and get back to the football game.

I need a good, cleansing drink, something astringent, like some gin on the rocks to move all the grease on out of me. Think I know where to go get the gin cleanse....

Hi Weesa, Yes,  it sure does take some preparing to make  them vittles.  How many did you have for dinner  tonight?   That mound of dishes will wait until tomorrow. I am happy to say that this year I was able to host the dinner. Now I am ready for that Slouchfest. Can I have a rum and diet? I will be good tomorrow. Sharonh

I slouched a-plenty after my ride this AM. Got back just as the rain was kicking up.

Was going to do a solo dinner, but met a neighbor in the elevator who invited me to a wonderful party she was having. Tons of people are in town as she is getting married. Then they are moving to Australia as her husband to be is from there.

Quite the fun group. I had never had Brazillian dishes at Thanksgiving before. The turkey was delish too.

I brought roasted carrots, and it turned out that a lot of my basic equipment was needed such as a cutting board and knife sharpener.

I have had enough wine....no slouch there.

I think I am ready to fall into bed :) - Claire

Sharon, Weesa had 20 guests or at least set 20 plates. I am overwhelmed for her. It IS a lot of work.

Rum and coke, gin and a vodka coming up! Anyone want doubles? I am seriously just getting started here, I was good today, just now coming out of the closet to slouch ;-)

    Brining a turkey?????????????????

I just stuff the sucker and put in the oven. Cook until done. A good stuffing flavors and provides moisture. I use some vermouth for extra flavor. Didn't do it this year.

But brining sounds like work, and that doesn't go with slouching.

Will need to remember the "gin cleanse". - Claire

    Hey, all Slouchfest attendees!!!

WARNING FOLLOWS......while the rest of you are feasting on leftovers, I am cooking the dinner I didn't get to cook yesterday.  So plan on leftovers.

At least I am feeding a friend I owe big time.  And Cornish Game Hens, not turkey.  I will let you know how the Slouchfest Rice Pudding comes out.  I figured I was on the right track when the egg/milk/cream mixture resembled egg nog.  I added brandy to the pudding for flavor.  Forget vanilla.

I did go out cycling today as was glorious sunshine.  Or it was sunny then, starting to drizzle now.  I let the large group do the major hills.  I did the flats and stopped for pictures.  So great on the pleasure end, and relatively little work. ~45 miles over the last two days.

I hope everyone was having some nice tea with cake or cocktails w/canapes and NOT in the mall.  No place for a decent slouch to be, at least not on Black Friday.

My friend is bringing wine.  Will start the mega-slouch once I get dinner in hand. - Claire

Erin here, reporting in to slouch. I ate so much these past two days, I just may explode. Went out with friends tonight but passed on dinner to make room for vodka.

Claire, have fun with your friend. Is this friend male or female? With or without tutu? ha, just kidding ya, enjoy your hen.

Paging Weesa, please report to slouch fest duty your drinks are ready. I hope you were able to get some rest today after all that cooking and cleaning!

Thanks for sharing this Celtic.  I'm always feeling guilty about my weekend nights out with my hubby and friends.  I also enjoy a glass of wine or a beer at home after I've settled down for the night on the couch at the end of a long day.  I enjoy this time with a twinge of guilt.  I hope more studies are conducted and we get a clearer picture on this issue!

Slouchfest continues tonight at our house. Witch Creek Hard Apple Cider is on the menu, and oh mama, it's GOOD!!!

Had T-Day leftovers today, and I'm about to bust, too! I'm thinking that Slouchfest may have to give way to Gymfest or Hikefest on Sunday, or I'm going to be shopping for new pants, lol!

Weesa, you're a trooper, pulling off a meal like that! Your stuffing sounds delicious! Will let you know if I find a study to justify the gorging I've done in the past two days. Surely there's something in cranberry sauce that can kick cancer's butt!

Slouch away, ladies! We deserve it after all we've been through!

Hi,  Just me    SharonH.  Slouchfest is still alive and well in Southern Calif.  Weather is beautiful. I  did not even go near the malls.Went for a walk.  I have 3 pounds of uncooked green beans in frig. because 'someone' forgot to cook them. Guess I should not have that wine before I put dinner  on the table. Have a good one.  SharonH.
