bilateral lumpectomy, IMRT radiation

Options

I have recently been diagnosed with bilateral DCIS. The first tumor by mammogram and the 2nd by MRI. Having both breasts involved has made decision-making very difficult for me. But I have decided to have the bilateral lumpectomy so we can know more. Both tumors are small. One is grade 2, one is grade 2-3 with comedo necrosis. My journey has been complicated by the fact that two radiation oncologists recommended against standard radiation because of my large breasts (38C), the fact that two breasts are involved, perhaps my age, 68, and a family history of lung issues. I have looked into IMRT radiation. I am wondering if there is anyone out there with experience with this new type of radiation? I am also interested in hearing from anyone who had a double lumpectomy. It is a scary journey - DCIS can go so many ways, from easy, to more complicated. Thanks for any input.
