The best things that have happened to you since diagnosis

In response to the "stupidest things people have said to you"  thread, I wanted to start this INSPIRING thread.  I'll start:

My boss, who lost his wife to breast cancer just two years ago, said to take all the time I need, get the treatment I need, they will be fine while I'm gone, but "your job will be here for you, no matter what"....that gave me hope.  He said many other supportive things, too, but that stuck with me.

My BFF just called me, from Atlanta, GA to say that she and her husband had talked and agreed that she could take a leave of absence from her job, come to CA and be with me through my treatments.  She is my BFF from high school, 25 yrs we have been BFF.  She has a high powered job in the medical field and it would be such a tremendous burden for her to do this, but, she will.  Because she is awesome!  (I told her I will get through my surgery fine, but if I have to have chemo or rads, I might just take her up on that).

My husband, just a million reassuring, loving, wonderful things he says, and does.  Most important, he still touches me and holds me.

Several of my employees offered to bring me anything I need while I am off for surgery, and they meant it.  They asked for my address, directions to my home, my favorite food, my families favorites, my favorite TV shows, movies, .....etc...they are really planning to take care of me.

Nice thread to start.  I would have to say that my husband and kids (age 21 and 19) have really stepped it up to take care of me.  I have run a children's store for 12 yrs and we recently moved into a larger location in May.  Since my Dx my son and his wife have taken over managing the daily activities of the store and manage the staff...they are doing awesome.   In January we are going to Vegas to receive an award from our franchise for achieving the 2nd highest % increase over last yrs sales in the system.  So excited.

My daughter also works the family business and when she is not there she is looking to see what she can do for me.  After surgery i could not move my arms well and she had to clean place a 19yr should not have to touch on their mother if ya know what I mean.

For 3 weeks after surgery we had friends bring a meal for 4 of 7 days a week...yummy meals too I might add.  Everyone wants to help and do something.  It really does show you how many people love you when you are "sick"

My husband had also been amazing thru this whole thing.  He is there to cry with me, hold me and reassure me that I am still the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.  Even when I feel sad from seeing myself in the mirror and those aweful scars he is there to pick me up.  25yrs together and better than ever!
