An Unusual Situation

Hi everyone.

I was diagnosed and had a mastectomy (right breast) in July 2009; breast was 50% involved with DCIS and also had invasive..no raidiation or chemo was indicated. Ovaries removed in 2004.

My 2010 and 2011 mammograms are clear; my 2010 MRI was clear; my 2011 MRI...not so clear.  I have a few cysts and one complex cysts, which measures 2.1 x 1.2 cm ... not such a big deal, but I am postmenopausal and I was on HRT (some years back).  Posmenopausal women are not supposed to be throwing up cysts!

I'm scheduled for a needle aspiration/biopsy on December 6th.  Has anyone heard or had this before?

Thanks,

Janice

In this 1992 study of breast cysts

Only 5 per cent were in women who were more than 60 years of age, none of whom had concurrent or subsequent carcinoma.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1729747

I am postmenopausal and had a cyst at age 67.  A needle aspiration drained the fluid and confirmed the "bump" I felt was a cyst.  Drinking a lot of caffiene can cause cysts.  When I was younger I frequently had cysts. One time I had 9 drained on one side and came home with 9 bandaides on one very small breast! Happened to read an article stating that caffiene caused cysts. I immediately quit drinking anything with caffiene and have rarely had a cyst since I quit. Might be worth forgoing caffiene prducts.
