Hi I'm newly diagnosed and unsure of my treatment until I see my oncologist.  I know everyone's different but I had a lumpectomy/reconstruction for a Grade 2 IDC a few weeks ago.  I'm unsure what stage I would be and wonder who out there has had this and had chemo?  Also one of my ovary's is enlarged with a lesion ? cancer ?follicle, and this cannot be confirmed until surgery.  Anyone got any opinions about my status I'd be grateful, thanks.

Hi Katz.  I had a lumpectomy and my diagnosis sounds similar to yours. The ER+, PR+, HER2- diagnosis is good. It means there are treatments for your situation. In my case,  I did not do chemo; my Oncotype score was in the lower half of the intermediate range so I chose not to go through it.  I've done 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments that went relatively smoothly and I started Tamoxifen October 15th (so far, so good).

I can't speak to the ovary issue...I had a hysterectomy when I was 34.  I hope it's just an anomoly and nothing dramatic!

Katz - if you have to have this diagnosis, you are fortunate to have the one you have.  Will you be getting an Oncotype?  I am confused about what you mean by lumpectomy and reconstruction?  My stats are the same as yours, as are tinaj's - I would guess you are also a stage 1.  There are explanatory pages on this website about staging, but as I said, less than 2cm, grade 2, no nodes (correct?) means stage 1.  You will get radiation and may get chemo, depending on your oncotype and your age.  Once those are done, you will start on either tamoxifin or an aromitase inhibitor, again depending on age.  Hugs to you, this isn't easy, but you will find the strength and support you need from within yourself and also here with your peers.

I have a similar diagnosis.  I did the oncotype and had a score of 17.  I also had lymphavascular invasion present in my tumor which means the cells had an established pathway to travel by blood...don't know for sure if they did/didn't though. I was 45 with a 4 year old son last year when dx.  One onc said no chemo and the other said I would benefit from chemo.  I chose the chemo.  I did TC x4 and did pretty well.  I had a BMX with reconstruction.  There are so many factors that go into the treatment plan but you can review the national guidelines on the NCCN website.

    Hi Ladies

Haven't been here for a while so thank you for your posts. I've chosen to have chemo as going by the stats from my Onc there is a definite advantage for me. Raincitygirl the reconstruction was during lumpectomy/breast reduction so I didn't get a 'dented' boob. I am very happy with the result it looks a little smaller but like a normal boob which is great :) Thanks for your posts ladies.
