hi ladies my friend was diagnosed in august she has IDC 6 cm ( oncologist wouldnt give us exact size ?) and had a smal node in her neck that has noticably shrunk since chemo and lymph node in volvement in her arm pit. she is PR ER pos and her2 pos. so far she has had 3 chemos (F.E.C) she is scheduled to have 4 FEC and 4 taxodere. she is concerned because although her hair has thinned a lot it she has a crew cut it  hasnt fell out ?? has this happened to any one else??  she thinks because the hair hasnt come out completly the treatment isnt working. Also when we went to see the oncologist he was saying how well she looked and that she was very lucky to only have a few days of upset after the chemo. So i asked about the prognosis and he said resonable which shocked me a bit because i dont see that shes ill at all especially when shes got her little hat on you would never know! pleas reply if you can all the advise we can get is great xxxxxx

Not everyone loses hair - there are a small percentage of people that don't lose hair I have read.  I am not familiar with that chemo treatment as I had a different one though.  I was on taxotere and cytoxan and I know most women lose their hair with that for sure.  You may try searching in the search box for the FEC and see if you can find other threads regarding that chemo and whether hair fell out.

I had FEC and finished chemo last month.  I did lose my hair by the 2nd cycle, but there was a lady getting the same treatment as me who didn't.  She cut her hair short like your friend has done, but doctors where suprised when it never actually fell out.

They say chemo can affect people differently, and just because you don't have the same side effects as the person beside you, it doesn't mean it's not working - just that your body is reacting differently.

    All the best, Julie.
