Port placement this p.m.

Options

Dear all, just wanted to share that I had my port placement today, and so far it's not been bad at all. It feels sore, sort of like I lifted too many weights, but other than that I've been using i.b. and nothing else to allieviate some of the soreness.

I can feel it under the skin. Weird...but glad I don't have to get stuck for the next five months.

I was a little apprehensive, but I'm grateful that technology has improved. 16 years ago my late husband had a hickman catheter that we had to clean like every day, and it was a pain--and halfway through tx it fell completely out of his chest in the shower and he had to go through the trauma of having another inserted. So glad I don't have to deal with that.

Chemo Thursday...ACx4 then Taxol x 12, DD. This board has been very helpful so far for preparation, so thank you all who've responded to my queries.

Claire - congrats on port placement - glad it's not giving you any problems - I had none with mine (I had it for three years).  Good luck with your chemo this Thursday - let us know how you make out - hope you have as easy a time as I did - remember to drink lots and lots of water and to rest - nothing wrong with resting - this is the time to do it. Hugs, Sandy

Claire, I'm glad the port placement went well for you. I also found ibuprofen the best thing afterwards.

Best of luck with your chemo.

    Dear all,

Having my port put in later today.  A bit anxious, so everyone's words are very helpful this am.  Thank you.  I will be glad when it is over and in.  This morning starving, that not eating after midnight thing.  UGH.

    Gentle hugs

    Nel
