Skin Rash
I am 3 1/2 years from Diagnosis of Stage 1 IDC 0/3 nodes triple negative breast cancer. Treatment was lumpectomy, chemo 4 AC 12 Taxol followed by radiation. All has been well and my last visit with the Onc was 2 weeks ago. Today after getting out of the shower I noticed a rash on my breast. Area is warm to the touch and slightly itchy. Throughout the day the rash has spread across the lower part of the breast. I'm scared. Plan to call the Onc in the am and I won't let them put me off for an appt time. I'm going to insist on a skin biopsy. Has anyone also experienced this.

Yep, this happened to me some 3 years ago. Started with a rash like yours, then my whole breast became red, hot and inflamed. Before I knew it, it developed a pau d'orange (orange peel) look and texture. Soon after that, tumors began to break through my skin. Now my breast is completely covered by one massive tumor wahich has been fungating, ulcerating, bleeding and smelling horribly for most of the last 2 years. I have no skin at all and I'm always in pain. Wearing clothes is difficult. Whenever I have to shower, which is every night, I often want to scream from the pain. But the wounds are always oozing and stinking so the area has to be washed daily and dressed.
The tumor is a Grade 3, so it grows agressively and is hard to treat. Better get yours under control quickly before it progresses like mine did. I had started out as Stage 1, then when this rash thing began I quickly became Stage 3C.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this worrisome symptom and I hope you get other input from ladies who have experienced something similar.
chillipadi, I'm sorry about your situation.
I just want to suggest that if you are really worried and can't get an early appointment with your onc you could go to the ER.
I hope it's nothing serious. -
Thanks Racy. I hope you're doing well

Thanks for the posts. I'm going to push for the appt. I'm a nurse and have a good relationship with my MD I'm going to insist to been seen even if I have to camp out in the office.

Just wanted to add that I had this happen to me a couple of yrs ago, but it was mastitis. I was very upset at first, and doc got me in right away, and put me on antibiotics and it took a good few days to start seeing results. Just praying its not what you fear.. big hugs..

Good idea to not let them put it off.
If you are about 1 year post rads it can be radiation dermitits, or like another said mastitis. Skin punch bx will tell. Family docs also do skin punch if the onc doesn't.

Well the Doctor's office just called (at 1:12 pm) after my call at 9:00 this am. It is her day off and she is calling in a script for an Antibiotic for 7 days. I'll give it a couple of days but then if it is not improving-- I will turn to the surgeon and request a biopsy. I'm afraid to let it wait. It feels like a ticking time bomb.

I hope all turns out well.
